Infiniti M's Electrical Nightmare: Need Expert Help Now!

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

General electric malfunction

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey everyone, having some serious electrical gremlins with my '04 Infiniti M (96k km). Dashboard's lit up like a Christmas tree, nav system's dead, and getting some coding error messages. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar electrical issues on their M? Any recommendations for trustworthy shops that know their way around Infiniti electrical systems? Thanks in advance!

Hey there, had a similar situation with my '07 Infiniti G35 last year. The symptoms were nearly identical multiple warning lights, dead nav system, and unusual error codes popping up. Turned out the main Control Unit was failing. My mechanic diagnosed it by connecting to the OBD system and running a full diagnostic. They had to replace the main control module and reprogram it to sync with the car's systems. The whole process took about two days because they needed to order the specific part for my model. It was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention these electrical problems can affect various safety systems if left unchecked. Found a specialized Infiniti/Nissan shop through a local car club, and they sorted it properly. If you're getting multiple electrical failures simultaneously, it's likely the same root cause. Best to get it checked at a shop that specifically deals with Infiniti electrical systems. General mechanics sometimes struggle with these specific issues.

Thanks for sharing that! Yeah, it does sound really similar to what I'm dealing with. I'm actually curious do you remember roughly how much it set you back for the whole repair? And has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you had any other electrical problems pop up?

Hey again! Yeah, absolutely happy to share the follow-up! The total bill came to 1000€ for fixing the faulty Control Unit, but honestly, it was worth every penny. Since getting it sorted at the specialized shop, my G35 has been running like a dream no more Christmas tree dashboard or system glitches! The mechanic found some incorrect coding in the system which theyaged to fix during the repair. It's such a relief not having to worry about unusual electrical gremlins anymore. The nav system's back to normal, and all those warning lights have stayed off. I know it wasn't cheap, but when it comes to these complex electrical issues, going with a proper specialist really pays off in the long run. Nothing worse than having dodgy electronics in a car you rely on daily, right? If you end up going for the repair, I'd love to hear how it works out for you! Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and took your advice about finding a specialist. Found this shop that focuses on Infiniti/Nissan, and what a difference! You were spot on it was the control unit causing all the drama. My bill came in slightly higher at 1200€ because they had to do some extra reprogramming, but honestly, it was worth it. The guy really knew his stuff and walked me through everything they were doing. Got the car back yesterday, and it's like having a completely different vehicle! All those warning lights are finally gone, and everything's working perfectly again. The nav system's back up, and the whole electrical system seems rock solid now. Really appreciate you sharing your experience it definitely gave me the push I needed to get it sorted properly instead of trying to find a cheaper fix. Sometimes you just have to invest in getting things done right! Thanks again for all the help!

I'm having the same problems with my infiniti fx37s 2009 (dead NAV, depleating battery and warninglights. Which specific main control unit was it? Is the main control unit called also BCM (body control unit)? Thanking you in advance,

Yes, the main control unit is often referred to as the Body Control Module (BCM). It's responsible for controlling and integrating all the car's electronic functions. If you're experiencing similar issues, it's possible that your BCM might be the problem. However, it's best to have a professional diagnose the issue to be sure. They can connect to the OBD system and run a full diagnostic to confirm. If it is the BCM, it will need to be replaced and reprogrammed to sync with your car's systems. Please let us know how it goes and if you have any other questions.
