Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Been worried about finding someone competent to fix it properly. Would you mind telling me roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, just curious has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you had any other heating issues pop up?
Hey there! Just wanted to update you on my G37x situation. After getting it fixed at the Infiniti specialist, I paid €585 for the repair they had to replace the defective windshield heating element. I know it sounds a bit steep, but honestly, it was worth every penny because the problem is completely sorted now! The heating has been working like a charm since the repair no more issues whatsoever. It's such a relief, especially during these cold mornings! The functional limitation I was experiencing before is totally gone. The specialist really knew what they were doing, and I'm glad I didn't try to cheap out by going to a general mechanic. If you're still looking for someone to fix yours, I'd definitely recommend going with an Infiniti certified specialist. They might be a bit more expensive, but they'll get it right the first time. Trust me, it's better than having to deal with multiple repair attempts!
Thanks a lot for all the details! I actually just got back from taking your advice about going to an Infiniti specialist. You were spot on they found pretty much the same issue with the control module and some dodgy wiring. Cost me around €650, which was a bit more than I expected, but they really knew their stuff. The whole process took about two days since they had to order some parts, but I'm really happy I went with them instead of my old mechanic. The heating system's working perfectly now tested it this morning and it was like having a brand new car! No more error codes or cold spots on the windshield. Really appreciate you sharing your experience it helped me avoid wasting time and money at shops that might not have known how to handle these specific Infiniti issues. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
I experienced a similar issue with my '09 Infiniti G37x last winter. The windshield heating element completely died during a cold spell. Took it to a certified Infiniti specialist who diagnosed a faulty heating element control module and some damaged wiring connections near the bottom of the windshield. Not a DIY job needed proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact problem. They had to replace the control module and repair the wiring harness. Pretty serious work since they had to partially remove the dashboard to access everything. The whole repair took about a day and a half. If you're in the same situation, I'd strongly recommend finding a certified Infiniti specialist rather than a general mechanic. These heating systems are quite specific to Infiniti models and need someone who knows what they're dealing with. The shop I used had worked on many FX models with similar issues.
