Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! I've got the 3.0L diesel FX with 193816 km on the clock. Not seeing any error messages on the dash, just the seat malfunction itself. Good to know your fix was relatively inexpensive definitely gives me hope! Had it serviced recently too, but they didn't catch this issue. Might take it to the same workshop I usually go to since they're pretty good with Infinitis. Did your seats make any weird noises before they stopped working completely?
Hey again! Yeah, I remember when this happened with my EX30d and funny enough, my seats did start making some strange grinding noises before they completely gave up. It was like a whirring sound when adjusting the seat position, especially when moving it forward and back. Since you mentioned you've got a similar mileage (mine was around 185k when it happened), it's probably worth checking the wiring first before assuming it's something more serious. One thing I didn't mention in my previous reply before taking it to the workshop, I actually tried checking the fuse box just to rule out the obvious, but that wasn't the issue in my case. It's good you're planning to take it to an Infiniti-savvy workshop. These seats have quite a complex wiring system, and having someone who knows the model well really helps. When mine was acting up, it would sometimes work intermittently before failing completely are you experiencing anything like that? By the way, since you asked about noises if you're hearing any clicking sounds rather than the grinding I mentioned, it might be something different from what I experienced. Keep us posted on what they find!
Thanks a lot for all the detailed info! Actually, yes I am getting that same whirring sound you mentioned when trying to adjust the seat. Kind of relieved to hear it might just be a wiring issue like yours. I'll definitely check the fuse box tonight before taking it to the shop can't believe I didn't think of that! To answer your question about intermittent working, mine does the same thing sometimes works for a few seconds, then stops completely. Think I'll book it in for next week and see what they find. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience it's helped me feel a lot more confident about what I might be dealing with. I'll update the thread once I get it sorted in case anyone else runs into the same problem!
Hey there! I have some experience with cars (moderate DIY mechanic). I actually had a similar issue with my 2009 Infiniti EX30d. The electric seats were acting up, and it turned out to be a faulty connection in the wiring harness under the seat. Took it to my trusted workshop, and they found a damaged plug that was causing intermittent connectivity problems. Total bill came to around 95€ mainly labor costs for diagnosing and fixing the connection. Which engine variant do you have in your FX? Also, are you getting any specific error messages on the dash? This could help pinpoint if it's the same issue I had. In my case, it was a pretty straightforward fix once they located the problem, but these electrical gremlins can sometimes be tricky to diagnose.
