Infiniti FX Blower Issues: Electric Heater Causing Problems?

Blower does not work properly

|

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey there! Got an '08 Infiniti FX with some heating/cooling troubles. Blower's acting up and I suspect it's the electric auxiliary heater. The cabin just isn't getting warm/cool enough. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? Looking to hear about repair experiences and what your mechanic found might save me some diagnostic time. Let me know what fixed it for you!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my '06 Infiniti EX35 last winter (I have some experience working on cars as a hobby). The symptoms were exactly like yours cabin wouldn't warm up properly. Took it to my regular workshop, Jim's Auto, and they diagnosed a faulty electric auxiliary heater. Total repair was about 350€ mostly labor costs since they had to remove some dash components to access it. Fixed the heating problem completely, and it's been working great since then. I think these auxiliary heaters are a common weak point in Infinitis of this era. What's your mileage and have you noticed any other electrical issues? Might help pinpoint if it's just the heater or part of a bigger problem.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, I'm at 167781 KM and just had my service last month. The weird thing is, everything electrical seems fine except this heater issue. Good to know about Jim's Auto experience definitely helps to have a ballpark on the repair costs. I'll probably get it checked out soon before winter really kicks in. I appreciate the heads up about these heaters being a weak point in these models!

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up on my previous reply about the Infiniti heater issue. After seeing your mileage (167K), I remembered something else from my experience. When I had my EX35 fixed (mine had around 155K at the time), the mechanic at Jim's Auto actually mentioned that these issues typically show up around the 150-170K mark. Pretty spot on with what you're experiencing! I forgot to mention in my first reply before I got it fixed, I noticed the problem was worse on really cold mornings. Did you notice the same thing? It's like the auxiliary heater would struggle the most when you really needed it. And you're smart to get it checked before winter that's exactly what I did. Trust me, you don't want to be dealing with this in freezing temperatures. Mine actually got progressively worse over a couple of weeks before I had it fixed. Keep us posted on what you find out when you get it checked! Always helpful to share these experiences with other Infiniti owners. These cars are great, but they definitely have their quirks!

That's super helpful to know about the mileage thing makes total sense why it's acting up now! And you nailed it about the cold mornings that's exactly when I notice it the most. Been keeping a blanket in the car just in case, haha! I'll definitely book it in next week and share what they find. Really appreciate all the detailed info saved me from going in blind about the whole thing. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Love these cars but you're right about the quirks! I'll probably make a post about what they find when I get it fixed, help out the next one dealing with this.
