Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. Mine's at 70742 KM and just had its service last month. In my case, there aren't any warning lights showing up on the dash it just completely stopped engaging when I press the button. Your repair cost info is really helpful to get an idea. Did you notice any unusual sounds or behavior before it completely failed? I'm trying to figure out if I should take it to the dealership or if a regular workshop would be fine like in your case.
Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, looking at your mileage, it's pretty similar to when mine failed (I was around 75,000 KM). Actually, now that you mention it, I did notice something before the complete failure. For about a week or two before it gave up completely, my parking brake would sometimes make a slight clicking noise when engaging, and occasionally it would take a second press of the button to work. I just brushed it off at the time big mistake! I ended up going to my regular workshop because, honestly, the dealership quoted me almost double the price (around 950 Euro). My trusted mechanic had dealt with similar issues before on other cars with electronic parking brakes, so I felt confident going with him. He did a great job, and I haven't had any issues since the repair. One tip though make sure wherever you take it has experience with electronic parking brake systems. My mechanic had the right diagnostic tools for these electronic systems, which was key. Not all regular workshops are equipped for this kind of work. Let me know how it goes! Really curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine.
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really interesting about the clicking sound now that you mention it, I did hear something similar a few weeks ago but didn't think much of it at the time. Guess these things do give some warning signs! I'll definitely take your advice about finding a workshop with the right diagnostic tools. Already called a few places, and I've found a well-reviewed shop nearby that specializes in European cars and has experience with electronic systems. Their quote is actually pretty close to what you paid, around 520 Euro, which makes me feel better about the whole thing. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience it's been super helpful! I'll update you once I get it fixed, in case anyone else runs into the same problem in the future.
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2014 Infiniti FX diesel (now I have a QX70). I'd say I have some experience working with cars, but I'm no expert. My electronic parking brake failed completely last year. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed a faulty electric motor in the brake caliper. Total repair cost was around 505 Euro, which included parts and labor. The fix took about half a day. What's the mileage on your EX? Also, are you getting any warning lights on the dash? This info would help me share more relevant details about my experience.
