Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful. Same problem hit me pretty bad last year, and it's good to know I wasn't the only one dealing with those symptoms. Just wondering do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying at the dealer? And has everything been smooth sailing since the repair? I'm trying to figure out if I should brace myself for any follow-up issues.
Hey again! Yeah, absolutely no problem! Actually, I just got my car back from the dealer last week for this exact issue. The total bill came to 220€ for fixing the faulty cable between the pump and control unit. That "Coolant pump function limited" warning that was driving me crazy is completely gone now. I'm really happy to report that everything's running perfectly since the repair no more overheating, no warning lights, nothing. The engine temperature's staying exactly where it should be. For peace of mind, it was definitely worth getting it done at the dealer, even though independent shops might have been cheaper. From what I can tell, once they fix the cable connection properly, you shouldn't have any follow-up issues. My QX50 has been running like a dream for the past week feels just like when I first got it. Just keep an eye on your temperature gauge for the first few days after the repair (I was a bit paranoid about it myself!), but you should be good to go. Let me know how yours turns out!
Thanks so much for all the details! I actually went ahead and got mine fixed yesterday at the dealer you recommended. The whole experience wasn't nearly as painful as I expected. My bill was a bit higher at 275€ because they found some corroded connectors that needed replacing too, but honestly, I'm just relieved it's sorted. Just drove it today for about an hour, and what a difference! No more temperature spikes, and that annoying check engine light is finally off. The engine's running smoother than it has in months. You were right about keeping an eye on the temp gauge I've been glancing at it probably more than I should, but everything's staying steady. Really appreciate you sharing your experience helped me make the right call going to the dealer instead of trying to save a few bucks at a unusual shop. Think I've finally found a reliable place for future repairs too. Thanks again for all the help!
Hey there, I can relate to your situation. I had similar issues with my 2015 Infiniti QX50 last summer at 58k km. The symptoms were exactly the same engine temperature rising and check engine light coming on. Turned out to be a faulty cable connection between the electric water pump and the control unit. The pump itself was fine, but the wiring was corroded and needed replacement. It was a serious issue that needed immediate attention to prevent potential engine damage. I took mine to an authorized Infiniti dealer because of the complexity of the cooling system in these models. They diagnosed it properly and fixed it within a day. The cable harness was replaced, and they also did a full cooling system inspection while they were at it. Haven't had any issues since then. If you're having trust issues with mechanics, I'd recommend going to the dealer for this one, especially since it's cooling system related. Good luck!
