Hyundai Veracruz '07: Seeking Advice on Malfunctioning Wipers and Rain-light Sensor Issues

Wipers don't work properly

Hey everyone! I'm getting a bit stressed with an issue on my '07 Hyundai Veracruz, gas model. The mileage is around 95,873 KM and recently my wipers have been acting up. I suspect it might be something to do with the Rain-light sensor not working right. Last time I took my car to the mechanic, it wasn't a great experience hence a bit hesitant now. Anyone out there who's faced something similar? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and how it worked out when you took it in for repair. Thanks in advance guys!

Hey there, I totally understand why you'd be hesitant about taking your car back to the garage, those places can sometimes be a real pain, right? Now for your issue, dang, I've had the same problem with my '10 Hyundai Tucson. Trust me, you aren't alone with this. After the rain-light sensor started acting up, I noticed tiny bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield. At first, I didn't make much of it, but as time went by, it became apparent that it might be a serious issue. It was more than just a simple cosmetic issue, it even started causing problems with the wipers like you mentioned. Finally, I took it to the garage. They explained that those bubbles were affecting the sensor's ability to detect rain accurately, leading to intermittent wiper activity. The fix? They had to replace the entire sensor. The gel pad is adhered to the glass - so once it starts bubbling up, there’s no way back. Not exactly an ideal situation, but my windshield wipers are working flawlessly now, and the sensor's been right as rain ever since (pun intended). Hope this helps you out and good luck with getting it resolved!

Hey, that's some really detailed insight! It definitely makes a lot of sense, bubbles interfering with the sensor's accuracy, and all. Just the kind of info I needed! That isn't an ideal fix as you said, but if it's what's needed to get those wipers working right, I can't complain. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember how much that little ordeal cost you at the garage? And since your fix, have you had any other issues come up related to it? Thanks a ton for your help!

Hey, no problem at all. Glad I could help! Yeah the repair did set me back a bit, but honestly, it was worth it. It was around €62.5 for sorting out those pesky bubbles under the gel pad on the windshield. Not the cheapest fix, but hey, at least now those wipers are working perfectly! As for your other question, since I got the Rain-light sensor taken care of at the mechanic's, it's been smooth sailing really. Haven't run into any problems related to it after they addressed the issue. My advice, don't let the cost scare you off. In the long run, it's a good investment for your '07 Veracruz. Cheers and good luck!

Sweet, that's a relief to know! I appreciate the price ball park. I agree, it might be a substantial cost upfront, but if that solves the issue for good, it certainly seems worth it. And it's great to hear you haven't had any more issues since the fix. That gives me a lot of confidence in getting it done. I'll definitely take your advice and not let the cost detour me. Thanks again! You've been a massive help. Hope I can return the favour one day. It's time to take the ol' Veracruz to the garage I guess. Cheers and fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly!
