Hey! I'm a bit worried here as my 2019 Hyundai ix35 with a Gasoline engine has been acting up lately. It's got around 87,108 km on the clock and I've been dealing with a bunch of issues like my check engine light popping on, reduced engine power, unsteady engine function, jerking on acceleration, idling stalls, and the car shaking when it's idling. After a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, I've been doing some digging and have a suspicion that it might be down to a tank ventilation system error or a DMTL valve failure. Has anyone had a similar experience with their vehicle or dealt with any similar issues? Any advice regarding mechanic experiences would be super appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey! Feels like déjà vu, reading your post. A while back, I faced a similar situation with my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe. Just like yours, my check engine light kept popping on and the car was acting all sorts of weird, particularly with jerking on acceleration and unsteady engine function. Drove me nuts. I had a hunch like you regarding the tank vent system, so I took it to the garage for a thorough look over. Turns out, the issue was just that- a defective tank to valve vent line. The mechanic had to replace these lines as the old ones had become faulty (a rare issue, he said). It sorted out the mess right away. Definitely check your vent lines your symptoms are strikingly similar, and this isn't something to ignore. But a heads up, diagnosing this might take a bit as it starts with checking and confirming the vent lines first before moving on to the DMTL valve, if necessary. And don't worry, it's a common enough issue that it's not going to break the bank or anything, plus most garages should have the needed parts. Good luck with getting it sorted!

Hey there, Wow, it really does sound like we’ve been through the same ordeal with our Hyundais! I appreciate the insight about the vent lines, definitely puts my mind at ease about it being a common ordeal and not a wallet-emptying fix. You mentioned it was the vent lines that were the culprits in your case, do you recall roughly how much that set you back? Also, since getting it fixed, has anything else popped up or has it been smooth sailing? Much appreciated!

Hey! Absolutely, I can totally empathize with the stress your Hyundai's been causing you. So, about your query, after the mechanic did his magic on the vent lines, I had to cough up roughly 205.00 €. I reckon it was totally worth it though, since the car's been running as smooth as a dream since the fix—no more check engine light drama or awkward jerking. The tank ventilation system error we suspected was right on the money; the DMTL valve was a-okay. As far as my Hyundai's concerned, it's been smooth sailing with no other weird surprises. Hope this gives you some peace of mind. All the best with your own car trouble!

Hey! Thank you so much for reassuring me, really means a lot! 205.00 € doesn't sound too dire, and hearing your Hyundai has been running smoothly after similar issues makes me feel a lot more optimistic about mine. You've really helped put my mind at ease, and knowing it's not the DMTL valve also saves a bit of the worry off my shoulders. I'll make sure to get those vent lines checked asap. Thanks again for your insight and support, it's been super helpful. Wish me luck, fingers crossed my Hyundai will be back to its old self soon. Much appreciated. Cheers!
