Hyundai ix35 2019 Model Air Conditioning Issues: Inadequate Cooling and Heating Performance

Air conditioning blows warm air

A/C System Not Engaging

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey! I'm having some issues with my 2019 Hyundai ix35 gasoline model, that's done around 87,108 KM. Lately the A/C's not putting out cold or hot air properly, it's barely engaging at all and when it does, it just blows warm air. Had a crappy run with a mechanic last time, so kinda skittish about taking it in. I'm thinking it might be a faulty refrigerant compressor. Has anyone else had a similar issue? And how did your mechanic handle it? Vibes, rates? All your experiences and thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there ran into a similar situation with my 2016 Hyundai Tucson diesel model not so long ago. Right around 80,000 KM mark, my A/C was acting funny - same symptoms as yours; just blowing warm or room temp air. Thought it was the compressor at first but turned out, I was almost empty on refrigerant. Took it into the garage, they did an A/C system inspection. Found a minor leak which was causing refrigerant to leak out. So the deal was, the system couldn't build up enough pressure due to the refrigerant leakage, hence the lack of cold air. They had to patch up the leak and then refill the refrigerant. On the bright side, it wasn't a serious issue since it was just a refrigerant leak. But you know, sometimes it's not about the seriousness of the issue, but catching it in time before it becomes one. I'd say get it checked sooner rather than later – faulty A/C can quickly turn into an inconvenience especially now that we're heading for the warmer months. Hope this helps!

Hey there, thanks a ton for sharing your experience. Sounds like you hit the nail right on the head with your Tucson story. I might be dealing with a similar leak issue considering the symptoms are pretty identical. And you're absolutely right about getting these things checked out asap to avoid deeper issues down the line. Don't want to end up sweating it out in the summer heat now, do we? By the way, do you reckon you could share with me the damage it did to your wallet? Just for a heads up before I stumble into another costly pitfall. And since the fix, have you noticed anything else acting up or was it smooth sailing? Thanks again appreciate it!

Hey, good to see you found the story helpful! So about the cost – here's the kicker, I didn't actually have to crack open my wallet for this one. Lucky for me, the fix, which involved refilling the empty refrigerant, didn't cost me a penny. And as for the ride post-fix it's been breezy, no troubles at all. The defect in the refrigerant compressor was taken care of right there and then at the garage. Just goes to show how crucial it is to get these things looked at in time, as even something seemingly small can lead to bigger hassles if left unchecked. Since the repair, my Tucson's A/C has been serving up cold air just as it should, even in the blistering heat. So yeah, don't worry too much about it. Better to get it checked and be at peace, especially before the real heat kicks in. Cheers!

nothing's better than hearing "didn't cost me a penny". That's music to my ears, seriously! Really glad to know your Tucson's A/C is running perfectly smooth now. It's a huge relief to hear! Guess, you're right about tackling these issues head on instead of dreading over the potential fallout. I'll definitely have to swallow my mechanic jitters and get my ix35 to a garage asap then. I'm hoping it's just a minor leak that can be patched, like in your case. Thanks a lot for the heads-up. Much appreciated, truly. Let's hope summer stays at bay a bit longer while I sort this all out. Cheers!
