Hey there, your struggle with the Santa Fe really hits home. Sounds like we're practically experiencing mirror issues. It comes as a relief to hear the problem alleviated with the works done on the injectors, DPF, and the exhaust back pressure sensor. Out of curiosity, mind if I ask you about the cost? I know it'd vary depending on location and garage, but a rough figure would help. Also, has there been any other major issues creeping up after this fix? Anything for me to prepare for? Really appreciate ya sharing your experience. Cheers!
Hey, it's good to hear that my experience can provide some sort of relief. I reckon it’s nice to know you're not alone dealing with car troubles, isn't it? As for the costs, my mechanic charged me around 1325.00€ to get the DPF taken care of. Keep in mind though, this expense depends a lot on where you are and the garage you choose. It sure did feel like a bit of a sting to the wallet, but considering the vast improvement in performance, I'd say it was worth every cent. And about your second question - since the work was all done and dusted, everything's been holding up pretty well. That exhaust back pressure sensor issue actually turned out to be the real culprit. With it fixed, things went back to normal and my lady’s been running as smooth as ever. Just remember, treating these issues promptly before they escalate saves you a whole lot of headache down the road. Keep an eye out, treat your car right and it'll treat you right in return. Good luck with fixing up your Entourage!
Cheers for that detailed breakdown! Your insight and advice is invaluable; I appreciate it. Shelling out around 1325€ sounds agreeable considering the annoyance this issue's been causing me. I'm glad to know that your car has been running smoothly post fix. Here's hoping the poor old Entourage follows suit. I'm definitely going to have a word with my mechanic about the injectors, exhaust back pressure sensor, and DPF, as you've suggested. Hopefully, fixing these will restore my dear car to her old self. I'll be sure to keep your advice close to heart and not ignore any upcoming issues down the road. Thanks again for lending an ear to my car woes. Can't express enough how much it helps. Wish me luck! Safe driving to you and your Santa Fe. Cheers!
Hey, your symptoms do sound familiar. I had a similar experience with my '04 Hyundai Santa Fe. The lousy situation was due to the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) being heavily overloaded. The exact symptoms you're describing - drop in power, excessive black smoke, rough running engine, and godawful fuel efficiency -were what I was dealing with. The DPF can become overloaded if it's not regenerating correctly, and it genuinely sounds like that's what's happening with your Entourage. Remember, the DPF's job is to capture and store exhaust soot, and if it's not regenerating often enough or fails to regen entirely, you're looking at a potential heap of issues, just like you're experiencing now. Upon taking my Santa Fe to the garage, turns out, the injectors were in pretty bad shape. Had them replaced and done a DPF clean. On top of that, we ended up replacing the exhaust backpressure sensor. That made a significant improvement pretty much instantly. So, by the sound of it, you might be right about the sensor playing up. But you might want to ask your mechanic to check your injectors and do a proper DPF clean as well when taking a look. It's not the most trivial issue, as it involves a fair bit of work. Your car wasn't designed for these issues to occur, so it's crucial to keep an eye on the frequency of DPF regens and deal with injector problems promptly. Best of luck with the repair work, hope things come out swell for your Entourage!
