Honda Vezel Hybrid Fan Failure Causing AC & Heat Issues

Air conditioning blows warm air

|

Overheating

Hi everyone! My 2022 Honda Vezel Hybrid is acting up. I've noticed the AC only blows hot air and the engine temperature keeps rising. I suspect the electric cooling fan might be the culprit. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Really interested in hearing about repair solutions and workshop experiences. Any tips on troubleshooting would be great!

Hey there! I have some experience with cars and actually faced a similar issue with my 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid (big fan of Honda hybrids in general, also considered the HR-V before getting mine). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with, AC blowing hot and engine temp climbing. Turned out my electric fan control unit was fried. Got it fixed at my regular workshop last summer, cost me around 480 Euro including parts and labor. The repair took about half a day. Before you rush to get it fixed, Does the fan come on at all? Are you getting any warning lights on the dash? How many miles/kilometers on your Vezel? This info would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience. These hybrid cooling systems can be a bit tricky, but usually pretty reliable once fixed properly.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I've got 246169 KM on my Vezel, and just to update everyone, I'm hearing a slight humming noise when the fan should kick in, but it's not spinning. No warning lights so far on the dash, which is weird. Had my last service about 3 months ago and everything was fine then. The temperature gauge starts climbing especially in slow traffic or when I'm idling. Really helpful to know about your similar experience with the control unit. Good to have a rough idea about repair costs too. Did you notice any other symptoms before getting it fixed? Just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious before heading to the workshop.

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your Vezel. this is like déjà vu, my CR-V had exactly the same symptoms before I got it fixed! That humming sound you're hearing? Had the same thing. It's definitely the fan control unit acting up, just like what happened to mine. Before I got mine fixed, I also noticed the AC would work okay-ish when driving at highway speeds (probably because of the air flow), but would get worse in traffic. And yeah, that humming sound was driving me nuts! Funny thing is, I also had no warning lights at first, but about a week after the symptoms started, the engine temp warning finally popped up. Just a heads up, don't wait too long to get it checked out like I did. I kept driving it for about two weeks hoping it would sort itself out (spoiler alert: it didn't ). The repair cost I mentioned earlier was actually because I waited and ended up needing some additional work done. Could've saved some cash if I'd acted sooner. Since you're at 246k km, might be worth having them check the coolant levels and condition while they're at it. My mechanic did that as a precaution, and it turned out to be a good call. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out, curious to see if it's the same issue I had!

Really appreciate all the detailed info! You're right about not waiting, I've actually booked it in for tomorrow morning. Better safe than sorry, especially after hearing about your experience. The similarity in symptoms is quite striking, even that bit about the AC working better at highway speeds is exactly what I'm experiencing! Super grateful for the tip about checking the coolant too. I'll definitely ask them to take a look at that while they're working on it. It's funny how we both had no warning lights initially, these hybrid systems really are something else! Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. It's really helped me understand what I'm dealing with, and honestly made me feel a lot better about the whole situation. I'll update the thread once I get it sorted, might help someone else down the line facing the same issue!

Let our mechanics help you!
