Alarm system malfunctions

Thanks for the detailed response! My Stepwgn's got 257497 KM on the clock now, and I just had it serviced last month. Yeah, that price point sounds about right for the fix. Been noticing some other quirky electrical stuff too, like sometimes the keyless entry acts up, taking a couple tries to work. Guess I better get that backup battery sorted before it causes more headaches! Really helpful to hear about your similar experience, gives me confidence that's probably what I'm dealing with too.
Hey again! Yeah, those keyless entry issues you're mentioning definitely ring a bell, had the exact same thing happen with my Insight before I got the backup battery replaced. It's like the whole electrical system gets moody when that backup battery starts failing. After I had mine fixed, those keyless entry problems completely disappeared too. It's funny how one small battery can cause so many unusual issues! Your mileage is pretty similar to what mine was when I ran into these problems (I was around 260,000 km). Just a heads up, when I got mine replaced, the mechanic also checked the main battery connections while they were at it. Found a bit of corrosion on one terminal, which they cleaned up. Might be worth asking them to take a look at that too when you bring it in. Still zero issues with my alarm since the fix. Best money I've spent on maintenance recently, honestly. Let me know how it goes when you get yours sorted!
Thanks so much for all the advice! You've definitely convinced me to get this sorted ASAP. It's really reassuring to hear that fixing the backup battery solved all those similar issues on your Insight. I'll definitely ask them to check those battery connections too, might as well get everything looked at while they're in there. Going to call my mechanic tomorrow and get this scheduled. Really glad I asked about this, was worried I might be looking at some major electrical system problem, but sounds like it's just that pesky backup battery after all. Will definitely post an update once I get it fixed! Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!
Hey there! I have some experience working on hybrid vehicles. Had a similar issue with my 2018 Honda Insight, and my cousin owns a CR-V too. That alarm behavior definitely sounds like what I dealt with. My alarm would go crazy at unusual times, super annoying! Turned out the backup battery was dying, just like you suspected. These hybrid systems can be tricky since they have multiple batteries. I took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it as a discharged backup battery due to age. The whole thing, including installation, set me back about 330 Euro, but it completely solved the problem. Haven't had a single false alarm since. Could you share your current mileage and if you've noticed any other electrical issues? That would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience. Quick tip: Don't wait too long to fix it, a failing backup battery can sometimes cause other electrical gremlins in these hybrids.
