Thanks for the detailed reply! My Stepwgn has been pretty well maintained (last service was at 299411 KM), but I have noticed the engine's been a bit sluggish to start in the mornings lately. No other warning lights on the dash though, just this heating system fault code. Good to know about the battery being a potential culprit, definitely sounds less scary than what I was imagining! I'll get it checked out and hopefully it's just as straightforward as your case was. Really appreciate you sharing your experience!
Hey again! That sluggish start you mentioned definitely rings a bell, it was exactly the same with my Odyssey before I got it fixed. Looking at your mileage (299411 km), I'd say you're probably due for a battery replacement anyway. These things typically last about 4-5 years, and with that kind of mileage, I wouldn't be surprised if the original battery is getting tired. Just to add to my previous experience, after I got the new battery installed, not only did the heated windows start working perfectly again, but I also noticed my car was starting up much more enthusiastically in the mornings! It's funny how these things creep up on you, you don't realize how sluggish it's gotten until you fix it. Quick tip though, when you get it checked out, make sure they test the alternator too. Mine was fine, but the mechanic mentioned it's worth checking since a faulty alternator can drain a new battery pretty quickly. Let me know how it goes! Hope it's a simple fix like mine was.
Thanks so much for the follow-up advice! You've definitely made me feel more confident about the whole situation. I called my mechanic and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning, mentioned both the battery and alternator check like you suggested. It makes total sense now that I think about it, the slow starts have been getting gradually worse over the past few weeks, I just didn't connect it to the heated windows issue. Funny how these things are often connected! I'll take your suggestion and get them to do a full electrical check while they're at it. The car's been fantastic overall, so I guess it's about time for some electrical maintenance. Really hoping it's just the battery like in your case, would be great to get my Stepwgn back to starting up eagerly in the mornings again! I'll update you on what they find. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Honda Odyssey (previously owned a CR-V too). I've got some experience working on cars, but mostly basic maintenance stuff. The heated windows stopped working completely on mine as well, and after taking it to my trusted workshop, it turned out to be just a drained battery that wasn't holding charge properly anymore. They ran a full diagnostic test to be sure, and yep, the battery was the culprit. Total bill came to about 290 Euro with parts and labor. Before you head to the shop though, Does your car have any other electrical issues? Have you noticed the engine being slower to start recently? Are there any other warning lights on your dash? This info would help determine if you're facing the same battery issue I had or if it's something else entirely.
