Thanks for sharing your experience! That's exactly what I needed to hear, as those symptoms match mine perfectly. I'm relieved to know it was fixable in your case. Would you mind sharing how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, curious if you've had any other AC issues since getting those valves replaced in your Pilot?
Hey again! Great news, I can actually follow up on this with a really positive outcome! After seeing the mechanic I mentioned, the AC issue was completely resolved. Those faulty valves were indeed the culprit, just as I suspected. And here's the best part, it didn't cost me anything! Turned out the repairs were fully covered under an extended warranty I had completely forgotten about. Talk about a lucky break! Since getting those valves replaced, my Pilot's AC has been working like a dream, nice and cold, just how it should be. It's been absolutely trouble-free. Seriously, it's like having a brand new AC system. The repair shop did a fantastic job identifying and fixing the exact problem. Quick tip though, even if you don't have warranty coverage like I lucked out with, don't put off getting it checked. A faulty AC system can lead to bigger issues if left unfixed. Better to tackle it now than deal with a much pricier compressor replacement down the road! Let me know how it goes with yours!
Thanks so much for all the detailed information! I actually took your advice and got my Odyssey checked out yesterday. The mechanic I found was really thorough and professional, such a relief after my previous bad experiences! Turns out it wasn't exactly the same issue as yours. My AC problems were caused by a refrigerant leak from a corroded line. The mechanic showed me exactly where the leak was happening, which I really appreciated. They fixed the line and recharged the system. The whole thing cost me about $400, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The AC is now blowing ice-cold air again, and the van feels like new! I'm just glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. Really appreciate everyone's help here. It gave me the confidence to tackle this problem head-on instead of putting it off. Now I can finally enjoy driving without sweating buckets!
Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2012 Honda Pilot last summer. The symptoms were exactly like yours, weak cooling and warm air. Took it to the garage and it turned out to be faulty expansion valves in the AC system. The mechanic found that both the thermal expansion valve and the check valve were defective, which was restricting the refrigerant flow. It wasn't a quick fix, took them nearly a full day to replace these components and recharge the system. This is actually a fairly serious issue because continuing to run the AC with faulty valves can damage your compressor, which is a much bigger problem. In my case, we caught it in time before it caused any additional damage. Your symptoms sound identical to what I experienced, so I'd suggest getting it checked soon. Make sure they do a proper pressure test of the AC system to pinpoint the exact problem. Hope this helps!
