Honda NBox Wiper & Washer Woes: Help Needed

Headlight cleaning system without function

|

Wipers don't work properly

Hi everyone! Having trouble with my 2020 Honda NBox (168,987 KM, gasoline). The windshield wipers are acting up and the headlight washer system isn't working either. I suspect it might be the wiper switch causing both issues. Got burned by a mechanic recently, so I'm a bit cautious about where to take it. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their NBox? Would love to hear about repair costs and trustworthy repair experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I actually faced a similar issue with my 2017 Honda Fit (gasoline). The symptoms were exactly what you're describing, erratic wiper behavior and non-functional headlight washers. My mechanic diagnosed it as a faulty steering column switch cable connection. The cable had deteriorated over time, causing intermittent electrical issues. It wasn't a major repair in terms of complexity, but it was important to fix it promptly because these systems are crucial for safe driving in poor weather conditions. The repair involved replacing the entire wiper/light combination switch assembly. The mechanic needed about two hours to complete the job. Been working perfectly since then, going on 8 months now. Just my two cents, don't skip on this repair. Poor visibility in bad weather isn't worth the risk. Make sure they check the entire wiring harness while they're at it, as these issues can sometimes indicate broader electrical problems.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. That's really helpful, I had the exact same symptoms with my Fit! Got it fixed last year and it's been working like a charm since. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for the repair? Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks since getting it fixed? Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything with mine.

Hey again! No problem at all! Happy to share, I paid exactly 155€ for the repair, which included fixing that faulty steering column switch cable connection. I'd say it was money well spent considering how annoying those wiper issues were! Since getting it fixed, everything's been working perfectly, no more wiper drama or electrical quirks whatsoever. The headlight washers are also functioning great now. It's such a relief not having to deal with those unusual wiper movements anymore! My mechanic did a thorough job checking the whole electrical system while they were at it, and honestly, it's been smooth sailing for the past 8 months. Haven't noticed any other electrical issues pop up. The car's running just like new again. Trust me, it was totally worth getting it properly diagnosed and fixed. Those intermittent electrical problems can be super frustrating, but once you get them sorted, you're good to go!

Thanks again for all the details! I bit the bullet and took my car to the mechanic yesterday. You were right, it was the same issue with the steering column switch. The final bill came to around 165€, just slightly more than what you paid. The mechanic was super transparent about everything, showed me the worn-out parts, and explained what they were doing. I'm actually relieved I got it fixed properly this time. The wipers are working smoothly now, and the headlight washers are back in action too. The mechanic also did a quick check of the electrical system, just to be safe. No other issues found, thankfully! Really appreciate your help in pushing me to get this sorted. It's such a weight off my mind, especially since it's been raining lately. No more stressing about those unpredictable wipers! Take care!
