Hey, glad to hear you got yours fixed! Mine's giving me the exact same headache right now. It's reassuring to know it might just be that intake hose, definitely sounds like what I'm dealing with. Can't remember if you mentioned this before, but how much did the repair set you back? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then? My Mobilio's been my daily driver and I really need it back in good shape ASAP.
Hey there! Yeah, I wanted to follow up, I got the Honda City fixed and it was exactly what we thought. The mechanic found that leaky intake hose and replaced it. Total bill came to 100€ which included parts and labor. Pretty reasonable if you ask me! I'm really happy to report that since the repair, my car's been running like a dream. No more of that annoying hissing sound, no shaking, and the engine's got its power back. The check engine light cleared up too, which was a relief. It's been several months now, and I haven't had a single issue related to that intake system. Honestly, looking back, I wish I'd gotten it fixed sooner rather than worrying about it. The car feels like new again, smooth acceleration, stable idle, everything's just perfect. Since you're using your Mobilio as a daily driver, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out. These intake leaks only get worse if you leave them, and the repair is pretty straightforward. Trust me, you'll notice the difference right away!
Thanks so much for all that info! You won't believe it, but I actually went ahead and got it fixed today. Took your advice and just bit the bullet. The mechanic found the same issue, a cracked intake hose. They showed me the old one, and wow, it was in really bad shape! The repair took about an hour, and guess what? My car's running perfectly now! No more hissing, no shakiness, and the check engine light's gone too. The bill was similar to what you paid, and honestly, it was worth every penny. The difference in how the car runs is like night and day. I was worried it might be something major, so I'm really relieved it was just the intake hose. Should've done this weeks ago instead of stressing about it! Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it sorted. Time to enjoy my smooth-running Mobilio again!
I had a similar issue with my '16 Honda City (1.5L gas) last year. The symptoms matched yours exactly, power loss, rough idle, and that distinctive hissing sound. Turned out it was indeed an intake hose leak. When I took it to the garage, they found a crack in the rubber intake hose between the air filter box and throttle body. The vacuum leak was causing all those symptoms. The mechanic showed me how the old hose had deteriorated from heat and age. It wasn't a serious repair, they replaced the hose and a couple of clamps. The check engine light was related to the air-fuel mixture being off due to the leak. After fixing it, the car ran smooth again, no more hissing or jerky acceleration. With your mileage, it's pretty common for these rubber components to wear out. I'd suggest getting it checked soon since running with a vacuum leak can affect your engine's performance.
