General electric malfunction

Hi everyone! My 2022 Honda Jazz Hybrid has developed multiple electrical issues. The parking sensors stopped working completely, and I'm getting warning lights on the dash along with electric system fault notifications. I think it might be related to the parking aid system, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone else dealt with similar problems? Would love to hear how your workshop diagnosed and fixed it, especially if you had the same combination of issues. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I had a very similar issue with my 2020 Honda Insight (also hybrid). I have some experience working on cars, but electrical issues are definitely not my forte! The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with last year. My parking sensors went dead, and I got those annoying system warnings too. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed a faulty parking aid sensor that was causing the whole mess. The repair set me back about 265 Euro, but it fixed all the issues completely. Before you head to the workshop though, Are all parking sensors not working, or just specific ones? Which exact warning lights are you seeing? Have you noticed any other electrical quirks? BTW, if it helps, my has a Honda Civic and says these sensors can sometimes act up from just dirt buildup. Might be worth checking that first!

Thanks for the detailed response! I'm at 132583 KM since my last service, and yeah, all four parking sensors are completely dead. Getting a yellow warning light for the parking system and a separate "check electric system" notification. No other electrical issues that I've noticed so far. I actually tried cleaning the sensors with a soft brush, but no luck. I was hoping it might be a simple fix like your mentioned! Guess I'll need to take it to a workshop after all. Did your repair involve replacing just one sensor, or did they have to swap out the entire system?

Hey again! Thanks for the additional details about your Jazz. You know, this really does sound identical to what I experienced with my Insight! When mine acted up, they actually ended up replacing two sensors and the control module. The technician explained that one faulty sensor had somehow messed with the control unit, which is why the whole system went down. That's probably why the cleaning didn't help in your case either, sounds more like an electronic failure than just dirt. At that mileage (mine was around 125000 KM when it happened), these kinds of issues aren't uncommon with these parking systems. The warning lights you're getting are exactly what I saw, that yellow parking system light is pretty much a dead giveaway that it's more than just a dirty sensor situation. Quick tip though, get them to check the wiring harness while they're at it. In my case, they found some minor corrosion in one of the connectors that they cleaned up. Might save you from future headaches! Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. I'm really curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine. These Honda hybrids are great cars overall, but they do have their quirks with the electronics sometimes!

Thanks so much for all that info! Just got back from the workshop, and you were spot on, it was definitely more than just dirty sensors. They found that the control module had failed, and two of the sensors were damaged as well. The mechanic showed me the corroded connector you mentioned, which apparently contributed to the whole mess. The total repair came to about 290 Euro, a bit more than what you paid, but they replaced everything with original Honda parts. They also cleaned and tested all the connectors while they were at it. The system's working perfectly now, no more warning lights, and the parking sensors are all functioning again. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it helped me know what to expect and made me feel better knowing it wasn't just my car having these issues. These hybrids are amazing when everything's working right, but you're absolutely right about those electronic quirks! Thanks again for all your help!
