Honda Jazz Climate Control & Defrost Failure Help Needed

Mirror doesn't defrost

|

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey all! Having trouble with my 2007 Honda Jazz (259k km, gas engine). The heating/cooling isn't working properly, and the side mirrors won't defrost anymore. Think it might be the defogging sensor acting up. Had some sketchy work done at my last mechanic visit, so I'm a bit wary now. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their Jazz? Would love to hear about repair costs and trusted mechanics' diagnoses before I take it in somewhere. Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2010 Honda Fit (also gasoline). The symptoms matched yours exactly, climate control problems and non-functioning mirror defrosters. Last month at the garage, they diagnosed it as a faulty cable connection between the control module and the HVAC system. The connections had corroded over time, causing intermittent failures. It wasn't a major repair, but definitely needed proper attention. The mechanic had to replace some wiring and clean the connection points. In my case, it was worth fixing rather than ignoring it, as these issues can lead to more serious electrical problems if left unchecked. The repair took about 2 hours, and I haven't had any problems since. Just make sure your mechanic checks the wiring harness and connections first before replacing any sensors. Sometimes it's these simple electrical issues rather than the sensors themselves.

Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience. That's exactly what happened with mine too, really good to know it was just the wiring in your case. I've been worried it might be something more serious. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then? No other electrical problems or anything? Cheers!

Hey again! Happy to give you an update. Yeah, I got it sorted last month and it cost me exactly 155€ for the cable connection repair. Pretty reasonable considering all the trouble it was causing! The mechanic found the corroded wiring exactly where they expected it to be, and after replacing it, the defogging sensor started working perfectly again. Everything's been running like clockwork since the fix, climate control is spot on, and those side mirrors defrost beautifully now. Such a relief! No other electrical issues have popped up either, which is great news. It's amazing how one dodgy connection can cause so many problems, right? Honestly, it was worth every penny just to have everything working properly again. Keep us posted on how yours turns out, hopefully it'll be just as straightforward a fix as mine was!

Thanks so much for all that info! I actually took my car in yesterday and you were spot on, it was just corroded wiring causing all the trouble. My mechanic charged me a bit more, around 200 for parts and labor, but I'm not complaining because everything's working perfectly now. The funny part was, when I got there, they were super busy and I thought I'd be waiting forever. But this young mechanic took one look, spotted the issue right away, and had it fixed in about an hour and a half. Way better than I expected! The heating's working great now, and those mirrors defrost like they're brand new. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, saved me from worrying it might be something major. Amazing how such a small thing can cause such a headache, right? Anyway, case closed on this one! Thanks again for the help!
