Honda Jade's Bouncy Ride & Uneven Height Mystery Solved

Uneven Ride Height

|

Excessive Bouncing

Hey everyone! Need some advice about my 2013 Honda Jade (172k km, gas engine). The car's been bouncing more than usual lately, and I've noticed the ride height isn't level anymore. My last mechanic claimed it was just a door sensor issue, but I'm pretty skeptical about that diagnosis. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms with their Jade? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Really appreciate any insights since I'd rather not get ripped off again! Thanks

I had a similar issue with my 2016 Honda Civic (also gas engine). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced. My mechanic initially thought it was a minor sensor problem too, but when they did a thorough inspection, they found the cable connections to the height sensors were corroded and loose. The bouncing was happening because the car's computer wasn't getting accurate suspension data. The fix required replacing the wiring harness and connectors for the suspension system. Not a super serious issue, but definitely needed proper attention to prevent further suspension problems. The repair took about half a day at the garage. If I were you, I'd get a second opinion from another mechanic who can specifically check the sensor connections and wiring. Should mention that electrical issues like this aren't common on Hondas, so once fixed, you shouldn't have this problem again.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, sounds exactly like what's happening with my Jade. Quick question: do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the wiring harness replacement? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what's ahead. Thanks again!

Hey there! Happy to give you an update! After taking it to the mechanic last week, it turned out it was exactly what I suspected, just like I mentioned before. They found and fixed the faulty cable connections, and it cost me 155€ for the whole repair. Pretty reasonable, honestly! And you asked about how it's running now, I'm glad to report it's been absolutely perfect since the fix! The bouncing is completely gone, and that annoying door contact signal issue cleared up too. The suspension's working exactly like it should now. Just wanted to mention that getting this fixed was definitely worth every penny. The car feels so much more stable, and I haven't had a single problem since. Sometimes these electrical gremlins can be tricky to diagnose, but once you get them sorted, they usually stay fixed. Let me know how yours turns out! Hope you get it resolved as easily as I did.

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today, and wow, what a relief! Turned out to be almost identical to your situation. The whole repair, including parts and labor, came to about 160 for me. A bit more than yours but still totally reasonable. The funny thing is, when they showed me the old wiring, it was completely shot, can't believe my previous mechanic missed something so obvious! The new mechanic fixed everything in about 4 hours, and the difference is like night and day. No more weird bouncing, and the car's sitting perfectly level again. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it definitely helped me avoid getting another bogus diagnosis. Now I can finally enjoy driving without worrying about that annoying bounce! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
