Thanks for sharing your experience! My Integra just hit 75856 KM and had its last service about two months ago. The issues seem more noticeable during cold starts, and the shaking gets worse when I'm idling at stop signs. I'll definitely take your advice about not waiting, thinking I should probably get it checked this week. Good to know the repair costs were reasonable in your case. Did you experience any related issues after the MAF sensor replacement? Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything else that might need attention while it's in the shop.

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up since you asked about post-repair issues with my Insight. After the MAF sensor replacement, everything ran perfectly smooth, it was like getting a new car! But here's something I learned during the whole ordeal: I did notice that about a week before the sensor completely failed, I was getting slightly worse fuel economy than usual. I just dismissed it at the time, but now I know that was an early warning sign. One thing I'd suggest while your car's in the shop, get them to check your air filter too. My mechanic showed me that a clogged air filter can actually damage your new MAF sensor over time. I now change mine more regularly just to be safe. By the way, those cold start symptoms you mentioned? That's exactly how mine acted too. The morning starts were the worst, felt like the car was going to stall any second. Trust me, once you get that sensor replaced, you'll immediately notice the difference. Just make sure to use a good mechanic who knows hybrids well, these newer systems can be a bit tricky. Keep us posted on how it goes with your Integra! Curious to hear if your fix turns out to be as straightforward as mine was.

I'll complete the conversation from's perspective: Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Really appreciate you mentioning that bit about the fuel economy, now that you mention it, I've definitely noticed my tank emptying faster than usual lately. I've already called a mechanic who specializes in hybrids and booked it in for tomorrow morning. They quoted me roughly the same price range you mentioned, which is a relief. Good call about the air filter too, I'll definitely have them check that while they're at it. Better to prevent future issues than deal with another failed sensor down the road. The fact that your car ran perfectly after the fix is super encouraging. Those cold morning starts have been giving me anxiety lately! I'll update the thread once I get it sorted. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's really helped me understand what I'm dealing with and stopped me from putting off the repairs any longer!

Hey there! I have some experience with cars and actually went through something very similar with my 2020 Honda Insight Hybrid last year. Those symptoms sound exactly like what I dealt with, such a headache! The mass airflow sensor was indeed the problem in my case. Initially, I thought I could clean it myself, but the issues persisted. Took it to my trusted mechanic who confirmed the sensor was faulty and needed replacement. Including parts and labor, it set me back about 415 Euro, but it solved all those problems, no more black smoke, stalling, or rough idling. Could you share more details about your Integra? Like the mileage and whether you've noticed any specific patterns when these issues occur (like during cold starts or highway driving)? This info would help confirm if we're dealing with the same problem. One tip: don't wait too long to get it checked. Running with a bad MAF sensor can cause more expensive problems down the line!
