Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. Mine's at 164,758 KM and was serviced last month. The clicking sound is definitely there when I try to open the fuel door, and it's super frustrating! Been dealing with this for about a week now. The lights came on at the same time the fuel door started acting up. Just the two lights you mentioned, check engine and the warning light in the cluster. Your solution sounds promising, good to know it might not be something super major. I'm going to bring this up when I take it in. Really appreciate the detailed explanation about the linkage mechanism. At least now I have some idea what to expect!
Hey again! Thanks for the extra details, that clicking sound you mentioned is exactly what I experienced with my Legend! Since we're looking at pretty similar symptoms, I'm even more convinced it's the same issue I had. With my car, that clicking noise was definitely the linkage trying but failing to release properly. Mine started doing it around 170,000 KM, so we're in the same ballpark mileage-wise too. The fact that your lights came on simultaneously with the fuel door issue is another match with what I experienced. Looking back, I probably should have mentioned this earlier, before getting it fixed, I tried using the manual release lever in the trunk (there should be one in yours too), but that was just a temporary workaround. The proper fix with the linkage replacement was totally worth it. Quick heads up, when my mechanic did the repair, they found some minor corrosion around the mechanism, which apparently isn't uncommon at this mileage. Might be worth asking them to check for that too while they're in there. Let me know how it goes when you get it looked at! Always happy to help out a fellow Honda owner.
Thanks so much for all this helpful info! That's super interesting about the corrosion, definitely going to mention that when I take it in. Really appreciate you taking the time to share all these details about your experience. I actually didn't even know about that manual release lever in the trunk, that'll be super helpful as a temporary fix until I can get it to the shop! Just booked an appointment for next week. Fingers crossed it's the same issue as yours and can be fixed as smoothly. The fact that our cars had such similar symptoms at similar mileage makes me feel a lot more confident about what to expect. I'll probably end up showing your comments to the mechanic too, always helps to go in prepared! You've been incredibly helpful. Thanks again for walking me through your experience with this. Really put my mind at ease about the whole situation!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2011 Honda Legend (pretty close to your Inspire), and I have some experience working on cars as a hobby mechanic. The same thing happened to me, check engine light, warning lights, and a stubborn fuel door. Turned out the linkage mechanism for the fuel door was defective and somehow messed with the system. Took it to my regular workshop where I've been going for years. They diagnosed it, replaced the linkage assembly, and reset the system. Cost me around 210 Euro, but it fixed everything, all lights went off and the fuel door works perfectly now. Before I can give you more specific advice, Does your fuel door make any clicking sound when trying to open it? Are there any other warning lights besides these two? How long has this been happening?
