Honda Insight Nav & Audio Dead, What's The Fix?

Hey everyone, having issues with my 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid, both the nav and audio systems are completely dead. I suspect it might be related to the antenna, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would love to hear your experiences and what the actual fix was at the repair shop. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there! I'm a casual DIY mechanic with some experience working on cars. Had a super similar issue with my 2017 Honda CR-V Hybrid last year. The symptoms were exactly like yours, no audio, nav system acting up, the whole deal. Took it to my trusted mechanic who diagnosed a faulty antenna. The repair, including parts and labor, set me back about 255 Euro, but it fixed everything right up. The whole thing took about half a day at the shop. Before you head to a shop though, what model year is your Insight and have you noticed any other electrical issues? Also, did this happen suddenly or was it gradual? Might help pinpoint if we're dealing with the same problem. Feel free to share more details about your car, could help us figure out if it's definitely the antenna or something else!

Thanks for sharing your experience! My Insight has about 83490 KM on it and just had its service last month. The issue started pretty suddenly, I was driving and everything just went dark. No warning signs before that. Haven't noticed any other electrical problems, which is why it's so puzzling. Good to know about the antenna being a potential culprit. Makes me feel a bit better knowing there might be a straightforward fix. I'll definitely get it checked out by a mechanic asap!

Hey again! Yeah, your situation sounds eerily similar to what I experienced. After hearing that it happened suddenly while driving, I'm even more convinced it's the same antenna issue I had. With my CR-V, it was exactly like that, everything working fine one minute, then complete silence and black screens the next. Just to share a bit more from my experience, when my mechanic dug deeper, they found that the antenna connector had basically corroded and lost connection. It's actually quite common in these Honda models, especially if you've got some miles on the clock. Quick tip from what I learned: before you take it in, try turning your car on and off a few times (I know, classic IT support move ). In my case, sometimes the systems would briefly come back to life, which helped confirm it was a connection issue rather than something more serious with the head unit itself. BTW, I'm still running strong with no issues since that repair last year. Fingers crossed yours is the same simple fix! Let us know how it goes at the shop, always good to keep track of these issues for other Honda owners.

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! Just tried the on/off thing you suggested, and interestingly, the nav screen flickered for a split second on the third try. That definitely makes me feel more confident it's probably the antenna issue you mentioned. Really appreciate the heads up about the corrosion too, makes total sense given how these things are exposed to the elements. I've already called my mechanic and booked it in for tomorrow morning. It's such a relief knowing it's likely not something super expensive or complicated! I was worried I'd need to replace the entire head unit. Will definitely update the thread once it's fixed to help other Honda owners who might run into the same problem. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!
