Honda Grace Hybrid's Sensor & Dashboard Warning Mayhem

General electric malfunction

Hi everyone! Having trouble with my 2022 Honda Grace Hybrid (62,710 km) and need some advice. The parking sensors stopped working completely, and I'm getting electric malfunction warnings in my dashboard. The speedometer warning light is also on. I suspect it might be the radar sensor acting up. Had a not-so-great experience with my previous mechanic, so I'm hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar issues on their Grace? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey there! I actually had a similar issue with my 2020 Honda Insight Hybrid at around 55,000 km. The radar sensor got really dirty and was triggering multiple warning lights, including the speedometer warning. When I brought it to the garage, it turned out the radar sensor unit was covered with road grime and some debris got trapped behind the front grille. The fix wasn't too serious, they had to remove the front bumper cover to properly clean and recalibrate the sensor system. They also checked all the wiring connections since dirt can cause false readings. The whole parking sensor system started working perfectly after that. Just make sure whoever works on it has experience with Honda's sensing system, as it needs proper recalibration after cleaning. It wasn't a major repair, but it's definitely not something you want to ignore since these sensors are crucial for safety features.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was just a cleaning and recalibration job. I'm dealing with exactly those symptoms right now. Can't remember if you mentioned the cost, how much did you end up paying for the whole service? Also, has everything been working fine since then, or have you had any other sensor issues pop up?

Hey again! Great news, I can confirm everything has been working perfectly since I got it fixed. You'll be relieved to know it wasn't anything major after all. I took it to a certified mechanic who found and cleaned out all that built-up grime from the radar sensor, and did a proper recalibration. The whole thing only set me back 45€, pretty reasonable considering how worried I was at first! Haven't had a single warning light or sensor issue since then, and it's been smooth sailing with all the parking assists and safety features working like new. It's amazing how something as simple as dirt can cause so many warning lights to go crazy! Just make sure whoever works on yours knows their way around Honda's sensing systems, the recalibration part is super important to get right. But yeah, hope this helps put your mind at ease about the potential costs and fix!

Thanks so much for all that info! Just wanted to update you all, I took your advice and got it sorted yesterday. Found a certified mechanic who really knew their stuff with Honda hybrids. Turns out it was exactly what you described, lots of grime buildup on the sensor. They did a thorough cleaning job and recalibrated everything. The whole thing cost me about 50 bucks, such a relief it wasn't something more serious! The mechanic was super professional and even showed me what was causing the problem. All the warning lights are now off, and the parking sensors are working perfectly again. Definitely keeping this shop in my contacts for future maintenance. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction, saved me a lot of worry and potentially unnecessary repairs!
