Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was a wiring issue. I'm planning to get mine checked out soon. Can you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, has everything been working fine with your nozzles since they fixed it? Just want to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if it's a lasting solution.
Hey there! Happy to give you an update about my Honda Insight's washer nozzle situation. The repair worked out perfectly, haven't had a single issue with frozen nozzles since getting it fixed! The mechanic sorted out the cable connection problem, and the nozzle heaters have been working like a charm through the cold weather. About the cost, it came to 155€ for the repair. Looking back, it was definitely worth every penny. They had to fix the faulty cable connection, which turned out to be exactly what was causing the heater malfunction, just as they suspected. I know you were hesitant about your previous mechanic, but getting this fixed properly made such a difference. No more struggling with frozen nozzles! If you're still planning to get yours checked, I'd say go for it, especially since your Freed seems to have similar symptoms to what mine had. Let me know if you end up getting it repaired, would be curious to hear if it's the same issue!
Thanks again for all the details! I actually went ahead and took your advice, got my Freed checked out by a different Honda mechanic this time. You were spot on about the wiring issue! Funny enough, my problem turned out to be slightly different, it was a blown fuse connected to the heater circuit, plus some corroded wiring that needed replacing. The repair came in a bit cheaper than yours, around 120€, which was a relief. Got it fixed last week and wow, what a difference! The washer nozzles are working perfectly now, even in the coldest weather. Really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Sometimes switching mechanics is exactly what you need, this new guy really knew his stuff and explained everything clearly. Thanks again for encouraging me to get it properly checked out. Nothing beats having everything working as it should!
I had a similar issue with my 2018 Honda Insight Hybrid last winter. The washer nozzle heaters weren't engaging due to a faulty cable connection in the wiring harness. Initially thought it was just frozen fluid, but the problem persisted even with winter-grade washer fluid. My mechanic found that corrosion had damaged the connector pins leading to the nozzle heating system. They had to replace the wiring harness and clean the connection points. It wasn't a major repair, but leaving it unfixed could've led to more electrical issues down the line. Would definitely recommend getting it checked by a certified Honda technician, specifically someone experienced with hybrid systems. The diagnostic process is pretty straightforward, and they can test the heater circuit to pinpoint the exact problem.
