Honda Crider Overheating: Engine Sensor Troubles?

Hey everyone! Having some trouble with my 2016 Honda Crider (248,665 km, gas engine). The engine's been running hot lately and the check engine light just came on. I suspect it might be the coolant temp sensor acting up. Had a not-so-great experience with my previous mechanic, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms in their Crider? Hey again! Happy to give you an update! After getting it fixed, my Civic's been running like a charm, no more temperature issues or warning lights. The repair set me back 95€ for fixing the faulty cable connection and plug, which honestly wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The coolant temperature sensor problem was completely resolved once they sorted out that corroded connector. It's been about three months now, and everything's working perfectly. The engine temperature stays exactly where it should, and I haven't seen that pesky check engine light since. I'm actually relieved it wasn't anything more serious, sometimes these electrical gremlins can make you fear the worst! Trust me, getting it fixed was totally worth the peace of mind. Based on what you're describing, you might be looking at a similar repair bill if it's the same issue. Way better than risking engine damage from running too hot! Thanks for the detailed follow-up! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. You won't believe it, but it was almost exactly what you described! Had a corroded connector that was causing the sensor to give wonky readings. The mechanic showed me the old connector, it was pretty gross with all that corrosion built up. They cleaned everything up, replaced some wiring, and installed a new connector. The whole thing cost me about 120 bucks, a bit more than yours but still reasonable. Took it for a test drive afterward and the temperature gauge is staying right where it should be. No more check engine light either! Such a relief it wasn't anything major. Funny how these small electrical issues can cause such worry. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it checked out before it turned into something worse.
