Honda Crider Hybrid GPS Issues? Check Your Antenna First

No GPS connection

Hey everyone, having trouble with my 2020 Honda Crider Hybrid, the GPS hasn't been working for a few days now. I suspect it might be a faulty antenna, but not entirely sure. Has anyone dealt with similar GPS issues in their Crider? Would really appreciate hearing about your repair experiences and what the actual problem turned out to be. Mainly interested in knowing what solutions worked and how your mechanic fixed it.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Honda Insight Hybrid last year (I also considered the Civic before buying). I've got some experience working on cars, but mostly basic maintenance stuff. My GPS started acting up just like yours, totally unreliable. Took it to my regular workshop and yep, turned out to be a faulty GPS antenna. The repair set me back about 200€, but it's been working perfectly since then. The mechanic had to replace the whole antenna unit. Would you mind sharing more details about what exactly your GPS is doing? Like, is it not getting any signal at all, or is it showing incorrect locations? Also, have you noticed any physical damage to the antenna on the roof? This info would help determine if you're dealing with the same problem I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My last service was actually just 2 weeks ago, and with 53543 KM on the clock, I didn't expect to run into issues so soon. The GPS symptoms are pretty similar to what you described, it keeps showing "searching for signal" most of the time, and when it occasionally connects, the location jumps all over the place. I checked the antenna on the roof and it looks fine visually, no obvious damage that I can spot. Really helpful to know about your repair experience, I'll definitely get it checked out by a mechanic since it sounds like a similar issue. Did you notice any warning signs before your GPS completely stopped working?

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your Crider. You know what's interesting? Before my Insight's GPS completely gave up, I actually noticed some warning signs that I ignored for about a week or two. It started with occasional signal drops, especially when starting the car. Then it got worse, exactly like what you're describing with the "searching for signal" message and that crazy jumping location thing. My car had around 48000 KM when this happened, so pretty close to your mileage. Even though your antenna looks fine from the outside (mine did too!), the internal components can still fail. These modern GPS antennas are pretty complex units with built-in amplifiers and stuff. Here's a tip from my experience, when my mechanic opened up the antenna unit, he found some moisture had gotten in and corroded some connections. Looked perfectly fine from the outside though! Might be worth asking your mechanic to check for that specifically. Just keep in mind that ignoring it could lead to other issues, in my case, it started affecting other systems that relied on GPS data, like the time sync and some safety features. Better to get it sorted sooner rather than later! Let me know what you find out when you get it checked. I'm curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine!

Thanks so much for all that detailed info! It's actually really reassuring to hear that your experience was so similar to what I'm going through. I had no idea these GPS issues could affect other systems too, that's definitely convinced me to get it checked out ASAP rather than putting it off. I've just booked an appointment with my mechanic for next week. I'll make sure to mention the potential moisture issue you discovered, that's super helpful insight that I wouldn't have thought to bring up. Really interesting that your antenna also looked fine from the outside despite having internal damage. Your repair cost sounds reasonable too, so at least I know what to expect budget-wise. I'll definitely update you once I get the diagnosis. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's helped me understand what I might be dealing with!

Let our mechanics help you!
