Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since it sounds similar to my situation. I'm relieved to hear it might just be a leak rather than a full compressor failure. Mind if I ask how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the repair? I'm trying to budget for this and hoping I can get it sorted before summer really kicks in.
Hey again! Great news, I can totally put your mind at ease! After I had that repair done, my AC has been working perfectly. Just wanted to let you know that it turned out to be exactly what my mechanic initially suspected, a faulty refrigerant compressor. The best part? It was completely covered under an extended warranty I had, so it cost me absolutely nothing! The AC has been blowing ice-cold air ever since, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. When they did the repair, they also topped up the refrigerant and checked the entire system to make sure there weren't any other potential issues lurking around. Just a heads up, even if you don't have warranty coverage like I did, checking these issues early can save you from bigger problems down the road. The mechanic mentioned this is pretty common in these models, so it's good you're getting it looked at now. Honestly, my Accord feels like a completely different car now. It's amazing what a properly working AC system can do for your driving comfort!
Thanks so much for the follow-up! I actually just got back from my mechanic today, and wow, what a relief! Turns out you were spot on about getting it checked early. My issue was a bit different though, had a clogged expansion valve and some debris in the system. Way cheaper than I was expecting! The mechanic was super honest and showed me exactly what was wrong. He cleaned everything out, replaced the valve, and did a full system flush. The whole thing cost me about half of what I was worried I'd have to pay for a compressor replacement. My AC is working perfectly now, nice cold air flowing strong! Really glad I asked here first and got your advice about finding a trustworthy mechanic who'd do proper diagnostics. No more sweating behind the wheel for me! Thanks again for helping me avoid getting ripped off!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2010 Honda Accord V6 last summer. When I took it to the garage, they found the refrigerant was completely empty due to a slow leak at the AC line connection. The symptoms were exactly like yours, only hot air, no cooling at all. After running a dye test, they spotted the leak point and discovered it wasn't actually the compressor (which would've been much worse). They had to replace the O-rings and a section of the AC line, then recharge the system with fresh refrigerant. It wasn't a super serious repair in my case, but leaving it unfixed could eventually damage the compressor. The mechanic mentioned that these leaks are pretty common in Hondas of our era after they've racked up some miles. Get a proper diagnostic with a dye test before letting anyone replace major components. Could save you from unnecessary repairs.
