Thanks for sharing your experience! My Clarity (7988 KM since last service) is showing pretty similar symptoms to what you described. The warning lights have been inconsistent, sometimes the check engine light flashes, other times the EV system warning comes on. It's definitely worse when the battery drops below 40% charge, that's when I notice the most significant power loss. Sometimes it won't even start properly in the morning, even with a full charge from overnight. Really frustrating since I've maintained it well and always kept up with scheduled maintenance. Has anyone else faced similar issues? Beginning to wonder if this is a common problem with the high-voltage system in these models.
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your Clarity, that's super helpful. Those symptoms you're describing sound even more similar to what I experienced with my Accord EV. When my issues started, I also noticed that weird pattern with the battery percentage, especially around that 40% mark. It's like déjà vu hearing your description! The inconsistent warning lights were exactly what I dealt with too. My mechanic actually told me this was a classic sign of the high-voltage control module acting up. Quick question, have you noticed any buzzing or humming sounds when you're charging? In my case, that was another symptom that showed up before things got worse. The techs said it was related to the faulty components they eventually replaced. Since you mentioned it's been well maintained like mine was, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked asap. My problem ended up being more serious than I initially thought, and waiting might have caused more damage. These high-voltage systems are pretty complex, and small issues can snowball quickly. Still happy I got mine fixed when I did, hasn't given me any trouble since. Keep us posted on what you find out!
Thanks so much for those follow-up details, it's really reassuring to hear someone else went through the same thing! And yes, now that you mention it, I've definitely noticed that odd humming sound during charging these past few weeks. I just thought it was normal, but clearly it might be another symptom. You've convinced me to get it checked out ASAP. I'll call my service center tomorrow to book it in. Really hoping it's covered under warranty like yours was! The last thing I need is a massive repair bill, but better to fix it now than wait for it to get worse. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's helped me understand what might be going on. I'll definitely update the thread once I know what's causing the problem. Thanks again for all the helpful info!
Hi there! I've got some experience with EVs (medium level expertise) and faced something really similar with my 2014 Honda Accord EV. My car showed those exact same symptoms, power cutting out and battery problems. The high-voltage system was acting weird too. Took it to my regular workshop, and thankfully it was covered under the EV system warranty, so didn't cost me anything. Turned out some components in the high-voltage system were defective and needed replacing. The techs were super helpful and fixed it pretty quickly. Could you share more details about when these issues started and if you notice any specific patterns? Like does it happen more when the battery is at a certain charge level? Also, does your car show any warning lights? This info would help me understand if it's the same issue I had.
