Honda Civic Headlight Washer Pump Error, Fix Needed
Headlight cleaning system without function

Thanks for sharing your experience! In my case, I've got 69005 KM on the clock and just had my last service a month ago. I do hear a faint buzzing noise when trying to use the washers, and I've double-checked, the reservoir is completely full. The error message keeps popping up unusually, even when I'm not using the washers. Starting to think it might be an electrical issue rather than just a pump problem. Anyone else dealt with something similar?
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your Civic. You know what? That unusual error message situation sounds exactly like what I experienced with my Accord! The faint buzzing noise is actually a really important clue here. Initially, I thought my relay fix would solve everything, but I ended up having to go back to the shop because of those unusual error pop-ups. Turns out there was a short in the wiring harness that was causing the system to trigger sporadically. It was driving me crazy! Since you mentioned having your service done recently, maybe check with them if they disconnected anything while working on the car? Sometimes these issues can start right after routine maintenance when connectors don't get properly reseated. In my case, the total repair ended up being a bit more involved than just the relay. The mechanic had to replace part of the wiring harness near the pump, those wires had gotten corroded over time. After that fix, both the unusual errors and the headlight washer issues completely disappeared. Given your mileage is pretty similar to what mine was when this happened (I was at around 73000 KM), I wouldn't be surprised if you're dealing with the same corrosion issue. Might be worth having someone take a look at the wiring specifically. Let me know if you want more details about what exactly they replaced on mine, I still have the invoice somewhere!
Thanks so much for all that detailed info! This really helps a lot, especially hearing about your similar experience with the Accord. You're probably right about the wiring harness being the culprit, those symptoms you described match mine exactly. I'll definitely take your advice and have my mechanic check the wiring, particularly since you mentioned corrosion issues at similar mileage. It's interesting that you also had those unusual error messages, that's been driving me crazy too! I'm actually relieved to hear this is a known issue with a clear solution. I think I'll call my service center tomorrow and mention your experience with the corroded wiring harness. It makes total sense that they might have disturbed something during the recent service too. I really appreciate you offering to share more details from your invoice, but I think I've got enough information now to get this sorted out. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out with this! It's been super helpful knowing what to expect when I take it back to the shop.
Hi there! I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2012 Honda Accord last year. I totally get your frustration with those washer pump problems, they can be really annoying! When my Accord had this issue, I took it to my regular mechanic who found that the pump's relay connection was shot. It was causing the same error message you're getting. The fix wasn't too complicated, they replaced the faulty wiring and relay assembly. Cost me around 165 Euro but solved the problem completely. Before I can give more specific advice, could you tell me if you're hearing any buzzing sound when you try to use the washers? Also, have you checked if there's actually fluid in the reservoir? These details would help figure out if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Keep us posted!
