Honda City Audio & Nav System Total Failure Fix Needed

Audio system is not working

Navigationssystem is not working

Hi everyone! Having trouble with my 2019 Honda City (222k km, gasoline engine). Both the navigation and audio systems stopped working completely. I think it might be an audio signal problem, but I'm a bit hesitant about taking it to a mechanic after a previous bad experience. Has anyone dealt with similar issues in their Honda City? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Would really appreciate some advice! Thanks!

Hey there! I actually had a similar issue with my 2012 Honda Civic last year. The infotainment system went completely dark, and I couldn't use any of the display functions. Took it to the garage and it turned out the main display unit had a faulty circuit board connection, pretty serious because it's connected to several car functions. The technician had to replace the entire head unit. It wasn't just a simple audio problem as I initially thought. Not trying to worry you, but based on your symptoms, it sounds very similar to what I experienced. My suggestion would be to get it checked by an authorized Honda service center rather than a regular mechanic. These display units are quite complex and need proper diagnostic tools. One quick check you can try: see if the system responds after disconnecting your car battery for about 10 minutes, sometimes this resets the unit. If that doesn't work, you're probably looking at hardware issues like I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful info about the circuit board connection, sounds exactly like what I might be dealing with. Did you remember roughly how much the head unit replacement set you back? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system?

Hey again! Just wanted to give you an update since I got my Civic fixed. So after I took it to the mechanic, they confirmed it was indeed the display unit that was causing all the trouble. The total repair bill came to 725€, yeah, I know, quite a chunk of money! But honestly, it was worth every penny because they did a really thorough job. The best part? Since the repair, my audio system has been working like a dream, no more signal errors or black screens! It's actually running better than it did before all this started. The display is crystal clear now, and all the functions work perfectly. I can finally enjoy my music and use all the features without any glitches. I'm really glad I didn't try to cut corners or delay getting it fixed. Sometimes these electronic issues can get worse if you leave them too long. Trust me, if you're experiencing similar symptoms, it's better to just bite the bullet and get it sorted properly. At least now you have an idea of what you might be looking at cost-wise!

Thanks everyone for the advice! Just wanted to update you on what happened with my Honda. I finally got the courage to take it to a mechanic last week, and surprisingly, my experience was much better than expected! Turns out it was actually a simpler fix than what others experienced, just a blown fuse and a loose connection in the wiring harness. The mechanic was really honest and only charged me $150 for the entire repair, including labor. Much less scary than I thought it would be! The system's been working perfectly for the past few days, both navigation and audio are back to normal. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Sometimes our fears about mechanics can be worse than reality. Definitely learned my lesson about not waiting too long when these issues pop up! Thanks again for all your help and sharing your experiences. It really helped me make the decision to get it checked out!

Let our mechanics help you!
