Thanks for sharing your experience! My Amaze just hit 50253 KM and had its latest service two months back. Actually, these warning lights all popped up suddenly during my morning drive, no weird noises or anything before that. Haven't done any work on the steering or suspension recently. Your City story sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. Could you tell me more about how your mechanic diagnosed the cable issue? Just want to be prepared before I take it to the workshop, so I don't end up paying for unnecessary repairs. Getting all these warning lights at once is making me a bit nervous!
Hey again! Thanks for those details about your Amaze. You know what? Your situation sounds exactly like what I went through with my City. When these lights first showed up on my dash, I was also worried about potentially expensive repairs. My mechanic first hooked up the diagnostic tool, which pointed to that steering angle sensor communication fault, just like yours. Then they did a physical inspection of the wiring harness near the steering column. That's where they spotted the damaged cable, it had gotten worn over time from the regular steering movement. With your car's mileage being around 50K, it's actually a pretty common time for these issues to pop up. The fact that all warnings came on suddenly during your drive, without any previous symptoms, is super similar to my experience. Quick tip: When you take it to the workshop, ask them specifically to check the wiring harness around the steering column first. That's usually the culprit, and it's way cheaper to fix than replacing the entire sensor unit. In my case, they first inspected the wiring, then replaced the damaged cable, and finally did the sensor recalibration, all pretty straightforward stuff. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out! Always happy to help a fellow Honda owner.
Thanks so much for the detailed info! You're really helping me feel less worried about this whole situation. I've just called my regular mechanic and booked it in for tomorrow morning. I specifically mentioned about checking the wiring harness around the steering column, just like you suggested. It's such a relief to hear that this might just be a worn cable issue rather than something more serious. That repair cost doesn't sound too bad either, definitely better than what I was imagining when all those warning lights first popped up! I'll keep you posted on what they find. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and walk me through this. It's always great to hear from someone who's dealt with the same problem firsthand. Thanks again for all the help!
Hey there! I've got some experience working on Hondas, and this reminds me of an issue I had with my 2012 Honda City (similar basic platform to your Amaze). The warning lights you mentioned popped up on my dash too, it was super annoying! Turned out the cable connecting to the steering angle sensor was damaged. Got it fixed at my regular workshop, the mechanic had to replace the cable and recalibrate the sensor. Cost me about 155 Euro total. After that, all the warning lights cleared up and everything went back to normal. Before jumping to conclusions though, Has there been any recent work done on the steering/suspension? Did these warnings all come on at once? Any unusual noises when turning? This could help us narrow down if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Honda's sensor systems are pretty similar across models, so I might be able to offer more specific advice.
