Mirror doesn't defrost

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful info, especially about the corroded wiring being the culprit. I'm dealing with the exact same symptoms on my Accord. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been working fine since they fixed it? Appreciate your help!
Hey again! Great to hear back from you! Yes, I can totally help with those details. I actually just got this fixed last week, paid exactly 155€ for the repair. The mechanic found the same issue we discussed earlier, that faulty cable connection was definitely the problem. I'm happy to report that since the repair, my mirror defrost has been working perfectly! Even tested it during those chilly mornings we've been having lately. The mirror clears up super quick now, just like when the car was new. Honestly, I'm kicking myself for not getting it fixed sooner! The mechanic did a really thorough job with the wiring and made sure everything was properly sealed to prevent any future moisture issues. Definitely worth every penny for the peace of mind, you know? Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know if you need any other info about the repair.
Thanks so much for all those details! I finally got the courage to visit a mechanic yesterday. Turns out you were spot on about the wiring issue! My repair was actually a bit cheaper, only cost me 120€ since they didn't need to replace the entire harness, just fix the connection and reseal everything. Funny story though, when I got there, the mechanic immediately knew what was wrong just by looking at it. He said he'd fixed three other Hondas with the same problem that month! Got it done in about an hour and a half, and he even showed me exactly what was causing the problem. The mirror's working perfectly now, tested it this morning and it cleared up in seconds. Such a relief to finally have it fixed! Really glad I took your advice and got it checked out before it got worse. Thanks again for pushing me to get it looked at, definitely saved me from bigger problems down the road!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2004 Honda Civic diesel (had about 40k km when it happened). The defroster stopped working on my passenger side mirror last winter. Initially thought it was just a blown fuse, but turned out the cable connection behind the mirror was corroded and partially detached. My mechanic found that water had gotten into the wiring harness through a damaged grommet, causing the connection to fail. They had to replace the entire mirror wiring harness and reseal the entry point. Not a super serious repair, but definitely needed fixing to prevent further electrical issues. For reference, the job took about 2 hours, most of that time was spent accessing and replacing the wiring. If you're seeing similar symptoms, I'd definitely get it checked soon before moisture causes more damage to the electrical system. Good luck with the repair!
