Hey, thanks for your tip! It sounds like that's exactly what's going on with my Peugeot 206. I feel a bit reassured that it's not something mega serious, but it's still a bit annoying, especially the high fuel consumption. Do you happen to remember what you had to pay the garage to have it fixed? And has anything else come up since then or will the repair last? Would like to plan for that a bit. Thanks in advance!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! I paid around 95 euros back then to fix the defective cable/plug connection of the secondary air valve and the secondary air pump. And since then I've really had peace of mind. The annoying air valve problem has disappeared from the face of the earth. So the repair is definitely holding. Good luck that it goes just as smoothly for you!

Hey, I actually had exactly the same problem with my 2008 Peugeot 207. The engine light was always on and there was a strong smell of exhaust fumes. In my case, it was the cable/plug connection to the secondary air valve and the secondary air pump that was defective. I had it repaired in the garage and the whole thing was over within a few hours. It's not a mega serious problem, but certainly nothing to take lightly either. The secondary air system helps to reduce exhaust fumes, so if it's not working properly, it can affect the performance of the car and it can lead to increased fuel consumption. So to cut a long story short: I would recommend that you have this checked by a garage. Preferably one that you trust and where you know they won't try to rip you off. Good luck with that!
