Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since I'm dealing with exactly the same problem right now. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since they fixed it? Would love to know if any other issues popped up afterward. I might just follow your advice and head to the dealer instead of risking it with a regular mechanic.
Hey again! Yeah, happy to help! I just had this fixed a few weeks ago and it cost me 155€, not too bad considering how worried I was it might be something major. The issue was exactly what I mentioned before, just a dodgy cable connection that needed sorting out. I'm pleased to say my Eclipse Cross has been running like a dream since the repair. The Electric Power Steering signal error that was causing all that grief is completely gone now, no more heavy steering, no more warning lights, nothing! Honestly, it feels like driving a new car again. The dealer's diagnostic equipment really made the difference, they spotted the problem straight away and fixed it properly. Trust me, for these electronic steering systems, it's worth going to someone who knows what they're doing with Mitsubishis. Haven't had a single issue pop up since then. The steering's nice and light again, and those annoying vibrations are history. Money well spent if you ask me! Let me know how you get on if you decide to go to the dealer. Always good to hear how these things work out!
Just wanted to update everyone on what happened with my Outlander! Finally took it to the Mitsubishi dealer yesterday, and am I glad I followed your advice! Turns out it was also a wiring issue, but in my case, there was some water damage that had corroded part of the EPS wiring harness. Cost me a bit more, around 280€, but they sorted everything out in about 4 hours. The mechanic even showed me the damaged parts and explained everything clearly. The difference is like night and day! No more wrestling with the steering wheel, those annoying vibrations are gone, and all warning lights are off. The car feels incredibly smooth now, just like when I first got it. Really appreciate everyone's help here, especially sharing your experiences. If anyone else runs into similar issues, definitely go straight to the dealer. Those diagnostic tools they have are worth their weight in gold! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Time to enjoy my smooth-driving Outlander again!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross last month. The symptoms were nearly identical, heavy steering, vibrations, and those warning lights. Turned out it was indeed the electric power steering system, specifically a faulty cable connection that was causing intermittent power loss to the EPS unit. Took it to my local Mitsubishi dealer since these systems are pretty complex. They diagnosed a loose connection in the main EPS wiring harness, plus some corrosion on the plug connections. It wasn't a massive repair job, but definitely needed proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact issue. Fixed it in about half a day. These problems shouldn't be ignored since they affect your steering control. If you're looking for a mechanic, I'd strongly suggest going to a certified Mitsubishi dealer for this particular issue. They have the right diagnostic tools and experience with these specific EPS systems. Since you're at 133K km, it might be worth having them check the entire EPS system while they're at it. Hope this helps.
