Heating/Cooling Issues and Defrosting Trouble in a 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

|

Mirror doesn't defrost

Hey everyone! I have a 2021 Seat Tarraco hybrid, clocked about 63,503 KM so far. Recently, I've been facing issues with poor heating/cooling and my mirror not defrosting properly. I've got some suspicions about the cooling circuit water valve being faulty. Has anyone else run into a similar problem with their car? I had a rough experience with my last mechanic, so I'm really hoping for some advice before I head off to another one. Cheers!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 2015 Seat Leon a while back. Seems like your suspicion might be spot on. In my case, it turned out to be a mix of cable connection and water valve plug issues. On a chilly Sunday morning, my defrost wasn't working and the heating/cooling system was absolutely rubbish. I know my way around cars a bit, so I tried some troubleshooting myself - checked the coolant level, fuse, and even the blower motor. All seemed fine, which got me pretty concerned. Eventually gave up and dragged the Leon to a local garage. They tested a bunch of stuff and found out it was a two-pronged problem. First, the water valve plug defective, was indeed messing up the heating/cooling system. It wasn't letting the coolant flow through properly. Then they found out the cable connection linking the systems was also faulty, which explained the mirror defrost issue. Got both fixed and the car's been running like a dream ever since. It wasn't catastrophic, but still a serious enough issue as it affects your comfort and visibility. Fingers crossed you're able to sort it out without too much of a hassle. Good luck!

Hey there! Sounds like what my Tarraco is going through right now. It's such a bummer not to have the heating/cooling working properly, especially with the winter coming up. Thanks for sharing your experience, your pointers are a huge help. I'm curious, do you recall approximately how much this little venture cost you? I want to be prepared when I bring in my car. Also, have you had any other issues with your Leon since you got those initial problems fixed? Thanks again!

Yo! Ah, the dreaded repair cost question, isn't it? I feel you. For me, sorting out the water valve plug defective and the cable connection set me back around 155 €. Not exactly pocket change, but considering the alternative was freezing my bum off or sweltering, it was a price I was willing to pay. Ever since they tackled the problem, my Leon's been purring like a happy cat. The rogue cooling circuit water valve issue was sorted and haven't shown up again, so hopefully your Tarraco will follow suit. Haven't had any other major issues crop up since then. Hope this helps you brace for the blow a bit, and here's to a quick fix for your ride! Stay warm out there!

Hey, that's perfect! Your detailed insight truly puts my mind at ease a bit. And, that cost actually doesn't seem that harsh considering the benefits. I mean, who wants to freeze up or boil in the car, right? I'll take your advice and run my Tarraco to a trustworthy mechanic, fingers crossed, the issues will be sorted just like yours. Your ride sounds like it's enjoying a good life post those fixes. Hope my beast follows suit, can't wait to have it purring like a cat too! Appreciate the help. You’re a lifesaver, cheers!
