Hey, thanks for the info! I think my Citroën C4 might have similar problems. Even the thought of replacing the main ECU makes me cringe a bit, but if it would solve it, I'd be relieved. Do you happen to remember what you paid for the repair? And have you had any other difficulties with your C3 since then? Many thanks in advance!

Hey, don't worry! After I visited the mechanic, the problem with the low coolant level was fixed. These repairs, especially with complex problems like "sporadic faulty communication between control units" can be expensive. I paid around €955 for it. Since then, my C3 has been running perfectly again and I've had no further problems. I would advise you to entrust your C4 to reliable professionals. And don't forget to get an estimate beforehand! Good luck!

Thanks again for the helpful information, that reassures me a little. 955€ is of course a hefty price, but if there are no further problems afterwards, I think it's worth it. I'll ask around among my friends and then look for a reputable workshop. Hopefully they can fix my problem as well as you did. Wish me luck, guys!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Citroën C3 from 2005. It was the same problem: "Sporadic faulty communication between control units". It showed several error codes that indicated communication problems between various control units. I then took it to my regular workshop - they had the car completely checked and found that it was a problem with the main control unit. They ended up having to replace it. I was quite relieved when it was finally fixed, because these sporadic error codes are really annoying. In your case, it really does sound like a problem with the cooling system, possibly a leak or a faulty coolant sensor. It is possible that these are just symptoms of another problem. However, this must be assessed by a specialist. Just ask around in your circle of friends to see if anyone knows a good workshop and get a second opinion. Good luck!
