On my last visit to the garage, the mechanic completely replaced the windshield because the heating function runs through these wires in the windshield and if they're broken, there's not much you can do to fix it. It wasn't an easy job and of course it took time - so it wasn't just a simple oil change. But since then the problem has been solved and I've had no further problems. Maybe this will help you.
