Heating and blower problems in the 2016 BMW 3 Series: Could the outside temperature sensor be faulty?

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Blower does not work properly

Hey guys, a few things are going crazy with my 2016 BMW 3 Series (gasoline, 145632 km). The heating/cooling isn't running properly, the blower function is on strike and a warning light in the speedometer is illuminated. I think it could be the outside temperature sensor. Have any of you had similar problems and how did you solve them? Have you had good experiences with your garages? I'm grateful for any help, unfortunately my mechanic wasn't really able to help me last time. Thank you and best regards!

Hey, I recently had a similar problem with my 2013 BMW 5 Series. The warning light came on while I was driving and the heater just stopped working. So I went to the garage and the mechanic was able to determine that it was actually the outside temperature sensor. As the sensor is connected to the engine cooling and the interior heating, this had the consequences you describe. I had to have the whole sensor unit replaced. So it was a more serious problem, but after the replacement everything worked great again. Hope that helps you, buddy! Greetings back!

Hey, thanks for your reply! It seems that we had similar problems. Do you remember what you had to pay to replace the sensor unit? Has anything else occurred since then or is your BMW running smoothly again? Thanks for your help! Greetings back!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! I had to pay €155 to repair the cable or the sensor connector, but fortunately it cured the problem straight away. Since then, my car has been running like a baby again, so the trip to the mechanic was definitely worth it. No further problems so far and the malfunction on the outside temperature sensor is also back in the paint. Hope that helps you, buddy! Greetings back and good luck with your BMW!

Great, thanks for the quick reply! I'm reassured to know it's not something bigger. I won't waste a moment and will take my car to the garage straight away. Hopefully it won't be more expensive for me either. I'm glad your car is running smoothly again and I hope mine does too. Your experience has really helped me. Thanks again for that! Best regards and have a good trip! Hi there!
