Hey, just like you, I had a similar problem with my 2011 VW Passat. Despite the frost, the interior mirror stopped heating up and I couldn't see anything. That was really annoying! They had to change the thermostat at my garage. It turned out to be a serious problem, which was shown by the fact that other parts of the cooling system were also affected. Basically, it was the coolant pipes that were faulty, so replacing them was unavoidable. Hope that helps you out man. All the best.
