Hey, thanks for the quick response! Your experience sounds pretty much like what's going on with my i10. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up coughing up for the fix? Just want to make sure I don't get overcharged this time. Also, have you had any other related issues crop up since then? I appreciate the help!
Hey, no prob! If I recall correctly, I shelled out around 155€ to get the whole thing sorted. That covered the cost for fixing the dodgy cable connection to the mirror and dealing with that knackered plug on the mirror glass. As for any other related issues, naah none till now. Actually, the mirror heating's worked like a charm since my mechanic got his hands on it. Just goes to show, a good mechanic dealing with this properly the first time can save you a whole lot of future bother! So do your best to find one you trust and hope all will be well soon with your i10. Cheers!
you don't know how relieved I am to hear this! 155€ sounds perfectly reasonable for the fix, and it's good to hear you haven't had any major recurring problems. I'll definitely have a thorough talk with my mechanic about these issues and get the old boy up and running again. Really appreciate your suggestion and sharing your experience. You've been a great help, cheers!
Hey there! Saw your post and it reminded me of a similar problem I had on my 2014 Hyundai i30. Turned out to be a defective cable connection to the mirror and an oxidized plug on the mirror glass. It wasn't a big deal, just a bit inconvenient. Mechanic explained that the wires connecting the car's system to the heated windows and mirrors had gotten frayed and the plug on the glass mirror was all corroded and worn out - that's why the heating feature wasn't working. It definitely sounds like you might have the same issue. Don't stress about it, it's not a major problem. A decent mechanic should be able to sort it out without much hassle by replacing the old cables and cleaning up or replacing the plug on the mirror. Good luck!
