Headlight problems with the 2014 Peugeot 108: experience and solutions wanted

Low beam and high beam seems too high or too low

|

Dim or flickering lights

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2014 Peugeot 108 (gasoline engine, 125071 KM run). My headlights, both low beam and high beam, are either set too high or too low and the lights seem a bit dim, sometimes even flickering. I'm afraid it could be the blinker. I've had a similar experience with another faulty part and wasn't exactly happy with my mechanic at the time. Have any of you ever had similar problems and how did you deal with them or how did your mechanic solve them? I would really appreciate a few testimonials. Thanks in advance!

Hey, had a similar problem with my 2011 Peugeot 208, in my case it wasn't the blinker that was faulty but the control unit itself. This was actually a serious issue because the ECU controls many functions, including the headlights. The last time I had this problem in the workshop, they had to replace the control unit to solve the problem. So it may not be as simple as just changing a bulb. I would advise you to take the car to a mechanic as soon as possible so they can have a look at it. By replacing the ECU, my mechanic actually solved the problem. Hopefully that will solve your problem too. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the feedback! That does sound like a major issue. Can you remember how much it cost you to replace the ECU? And have you had any other issues along these lines since the replacement or did everything go smoothly?

Hey, you're welcome! Replacing the control unit cost me a total of €880. After I went to my mechanic, the blinker fault was fixed. To be honest, I haven't had any more problems since this repair, everything has worked perfectly. So I think replacing the control unit has helped a lot. Hope this helps you!

Wow, that sounds like quite an investment, but if it solves the problem permanently then it's worth it. Thanks for the quick and helpful reply. I'll take the car to my mechanic soon and see what he says. Hopefully in my case it's just the ECU as well and nothing major. Thanks again, your information was very helpful!
