GrandlandX Hybrid: Multiple Engine Issues & Solutions

Hey everyone, my 2022 Vauxhall GrandlandX Hybrid is giving me headaches. I'm dealing with multiple issues, engine warning light, significant power loss, rough idling with stalling, and jerky acceleration. I suspect it might be a faulty tank vent valve, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone faced similar issues with their GrandlandX? I'm particularly interested in hearing what repairs were done and how your workshop handled it. Any insights would be really helpful! Cheers

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Vauxhall GrandlandX Hybrid is experiencing multiple engine issues, including an engine warning light, power loss, rough idling, stalling, and jerky acceleration. The suspected cause is a faulty tank vent valve, but another user suggests that the problem might be related to deteriorated hoses, specifically the vapor canister purge hose and vacuum lines, exacerbated by recent hot weather. The recommended solution is to have these hoses checked and replaced with OEM parts, as this resolved similar issues in another hybrid vehicle.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! I've got some experience with hybrids and had a similar issue with my 2020 Vauxhall Corsa-e (also have a Mokka in the family). Sounds very familiar, I faced almost identical symptoms last summer. After checking various things, my mechanic found that some of the hoses needed replacement. The whole fix cost me around 175€, and it sorted out both the power loss and rough idling issues. Could you share how many miles you've put on your GrandlandX? Also, when did these symptoms first appear? This info would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience. Take care! [Experience level: Some experience with hybrid vehicles]

Hey! Thanks for your reply. I'm at 216,014 KM and just had my service done last month. The symptoms started showing up about two weeks ago, pretty suddenly actually. The car was running perfectly fine before that. It's interesting that you mention the hose replacement, I was wondering if it might be something similar since the issues started right after we had that really hot spell. Would you remember which specific hoses needed replacing in your case? Just trying to get an idea before I take it to the workshop. Thanks for the help!

Hey again! Ah yes, now with the mileage info, it makes even more sense. In my case, it was specifically the vapor canister purge hose that was causing trouble, along with a cracked vacuum hose. The heat can definitely make these issues worse, that's exactly what happened with my Corsa-e! The rubber just deteriorates faster in high temperatures. Looking back at your tank vent valve theory, while it could be that, based on how suddenly your issues appeared and considering the recent hot weather, I'd put my money on the hoses. When my hoses went bad, it was also pretty sudden, just like you described. The symptoms were literally identical, one day the car was fine, the next day it was acting up with all those issues you mentioned. Tell you what, when you take it to the workshop, ask them to specifically check the vapor canister purge hose and the vacuum lines first. That 175€ repair I mentioned earlier included both hoses and labor, so hopefully you're looking at something similar cost-wise. Just make sure they use OEM parts, I learned that lesson the hard way with my first repair attempt using aftermarket parts! Keep us posted on what you find out!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I've just booked an appointment with my local workshop for next Tuesday, and I'll definitely mention the vapor canister purge hose and vacuum lines to them. It's really reassuring to know that someone else has dealt with similar issues and got them sorted without breaking the bank. The OEM parts tip is particularly helpful, I'll make sure to insist on that. I'll update this thread once I get the car checked out and let everyone know what they find. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! Cheers!
