Thanks for sharing your experience! This is super helpful since I've been worried about the repair costs. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for everything? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? My Grandland's been my daily driver and I really need to get this sorted quickly.
Hey again! Good news, I can definitely give you an update on everything! After getting it fixed at my dealer's, my Astra's been running like a dream. The total bill came to 465€ for replacing that faulty switch in the intake manifold control, and honestly, it was worth every penny. The swirl flap control error is completely gone now, and I haven't had a single issue since the repair (it's been about 6 weeks). No more hissing, no more jerky acceleration, and the engine's running super smooth. It's like having a new car again! I totally get your concern about needing your Grandland for daily use. Looking back, I'm really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed, these things can definitely get worse if you leave them. Since you've got similar symptoms to what I had, I'd say you're probably looking at a similar repair cost, give or take a bit. Let me know how it goes when you get it sorted! Always happy to help a fellow Vauxhall owner.
Thanks so much for all the info! Just wanted to update you, I took your advice and got it checked out at the Vauxhall dealer yesterday. You were spot on about the intake manifold issue. They diagnosed it pretty quickly and quoted me 520€ for the full repair, including parts and labor. Got it back today and what a difference! The hissing's completely gone, and it's running smooth as silk now. The mechanic was really helpful too, showed me the old parts and explained everything. Way better experience than my last garage. Best 520€ I've spent in a while, honestly. The car feels like new again, and I'm just relieved it wasn't something more serious. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me make the right call getting it sorted quickly. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2018 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 CDTI. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, especially that annoying hissing and the power loss. Took it to my dealer last month when it was showing the same symptoms. Turned out the intake manifold control motor was failing, which messed up the swirl flap operation. They had to replace the entire intake manifold assembly because the flaps were stuck. It wasn't a quick fix, took them two days to sort it out properly. The problem is quite serious because running it like that can lead to more engine damage if left unchecked. In my case, they found some carbon buildup too, which they had to clean. If I were you, I'd get it checked ASAP, those symptoms won't go away on their own. Just make sure you go to someone who really knows Vauxhall diesels, as this isn't a simple fix-it-yourself job. Hope this helps!
