Loss of engine power

Hi everyone, my 2019 Vauxhall GrandlandX is acting up lately. The engine warning light is on, and I'm experiencing power loss, rough idle with shaking, and jerking during acceleration. The car sometimes stalls at idle too. I suspect it might be related to the tank ventilation system or DMTL valve, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone faced similar symptoms with their GrandlandX? What did your mechanic diagnose and how was it fixed? Would really appreciate some insights on this. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2017 Vauxhall Crossland X. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with last summer. My mechanic found that the vent lines running from the fuel tank to the purge valve were damaged and needed replacement. Got it fixed at my local Vauxhall specialist for about 205 Euro, and all those symptoms, the power loss, shaking, and stalling, completely disappeared. Could you share your mileage and whether you've noticed any fuel smell? This might help confirm if we're dealing with the same problem. Also, have you had any recent fuel system work done?

Yeah mine's got 267223 KM on the clock now. Come to think of it, I have noticed a faint fuel smell recently, especially when I'm parked up. Haven't had any recent fuel system work done, but I had my last service about 3 months ago. Your experience sounds spot on with what I'm dealing with, really helpful to know about those vent lines! Might have to get it checked at my local garage then. Did you notice the fuel smell getting worse before you got it fixed?

Hey again! Yeah now that you mention the fuel smell, that's exactly what happened with mine too. It started pretty subtle but definitely got more noticeable over time, especially after I'd parked up in my garage. My Crossland had about 245,000 KM when this happened, so we're in the same ballpark mileage-wise. The smell was actually what made me push to get it checked sooner rather than later, good thing too, because apparently those damaged vent lines can be a bit of a safety issue if left too long. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, before getting it fixed, I noticed the smell would get stronger right after filling up the tank. Did you notice anything similar? Quick tip, when I took mine in, I asked them to check the charcoal canister while they were at it, since they had to get to that area anyway. Might be worth asking your garage to do the same, just to be thorough. Better to catch any related issues while they're in there! Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. I'm curious if it turns out to be the same issue!

Thanks so much for all this detailed info, it's been super helpful! And yes, now that you mention it, I've definitely noticed the smell gets stronger after filling up. That's probably why I kept catching whiffs of it in the car park at work after my morning fill-ups. I'll take it to my local garage tomorrow and have them check both the vent lines and the charcoal canister like you suggested. Really glad you mentioned the safety aspect too, definitely don't want to risk leaving it any longer. The mileage similarity makes me pretty confident we're dealing with the same issue. I'll let you know what they find once they've had a look at it. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's helped put my mind at ease about what might be going on!
