Grandis Nav System Dead, Repair Tips Needed?
Navigationssystem is not working

Thanks for sharing your Outlander experience! My Grandis just had its service at 105,886 KM and I'm experiencing a completely dead screen, no backlight, no signs of life at all. The car runs fine otherwise. I have the top trim level with all the bells and whistles. Did your workshop mention if they tried checking the fuses and connections before replacing the entire unit? Just wondering if there might be a simpler fix before I shell out that kind of money for a new display.
Hey again! Thanks for the additional details about your Grandis. You know, when my Outlander's screen died, I actually insisted on having them check all the basic stuff first, I wasn't too keen on spending big money right away either! The workshop did check all fuses and connections before concluding it was the display unit. They spent about an hour testing everything, including the wiring harness behind the unit. In my case, the fuses were all good, and the connections were clean and tight. They even tried resetting the system by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes, an old trick that sometimes works with electronic gremlins. Since your symptoms sound identical to what I experienced (completely dead, no backlight), I hate to say it, but it's probably the same issue I had. These navigation units from that era are notorious for display failures. However, given your mileage isn't super high, it's definitely worth having them check the basics first. Quick tip from my experience, while you're at it, have them check the backup camera connection if you have one. When they replaced my display, they found the backup camera connection was starting to corrode, so they cleaned that up too. Saved me from future headaches! Let me know what you find out, I'm curious if it turns out to be the same problem as mine!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info, this is exactly what I needed to hear! Really appreciate you explaining what your workshop did before replacing the unit. I'll definitely have them check all the basics first, including that backup camera connection you mentioned. My Grandis does have one, and I never thought about potential corrosion issues there. Looks like I should brace myself for possibly needing a new unit, but at least now I know what to expect and what to ask them to check first. I'll make an appointment with my workshop tomorrow and have them start with the fuses, connections, and that battery reset trick you mentioned. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's been super helpful! I'll update the forum once I find out what's actually wrong with mine.
Hey there! I have some experience with car electronics and had a similar issue with my 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel. The display completely died on me last year. After taking it to my trusted local workshop, they diagnosed a faulty display unit. The repair set me back about 725 Euro, but it's been working perfectly since then. The screen issue could be related to various things, could be the display itself, connections, or the control unit. Which trim level is your Grandis, and does the system show any signs of life at all (like backlight or faint images)? This info would help me share more relevant details from my experience. Best regards!
