Check engine light on

Hey everyone, having some serious issues with my 2010 Infiniti G (179k km) and could use some advice. My engine's acting up with power loss, rough idling, and jerking during acceleration. The check engine light is also on. I suspect it might be the tank ventilation system or DMTL valve, but after a bad experience with my previous mechanic, I'm hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations for reliable mechanics who've fixed similar issues. Thanks in advance!

I had similar issues with my 2013 Infiniti M37 last month. The symptoms matched yours exactly power loss, jerking during acceleration, and that annoying rough idle. Turned out my vent lines from the tank to the purge valve were damaged, and the EVAP system wasn't working properly. My trusted mechanic found cracks in the lines and a partially clogged purge valve. They had to replace both the vent lines and the valve. It wasn't a huge job but definitely needed immediate attention since it was affecting engine performance and could've led to more serious issues if left unfixed. After the repair, my car runs like new again smooth acceleration, stable idle, and no more check engine light. I'd recommend getting it checked soon since these symptoms usually don't go away on their own.

Thanks for sharing your experience! This definitely sounds similar to what I dealt with. Everything's running great now and it's such a relief. Do you remember roughly how much the repair cost you? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey there! Glad to hear you got it sorted out too! Yeah, I remember the costs clearly it was exactly 205€ to fix those faulty vent lines running from the tank to the valve. Since seeing my mechanic and getting the tank ventilation system and DMTL valve sorted out, my M37 has been running like a dream! No kidding, it's like having a new car again. Haven't had a single problem since the repair no more jerking, rough idling, or any of that nonsense. The engine's performing beautifully, and honestly, it was worth every penny. I was worried it might be something more serious (and expensive!), but thankfully it was just those vent lines playing up. It's been about a month now, and everything's still running super smooth. No warning lights, no performance issues nothing. Just goes to show how something relatively simple can cause such annoying symptoms, right? Definitely one of those "wish I'd done it sooner" repairs!

Oh that's great to know! Yeah, I finally took mine to a mechanic last week after getting tired of dealing with all those issues. My repair ended up being a bit pricier around 350€ because they had to replace both the valve and some additional sensors. But honestly, it was totally worth it! The funny thing is, I was so nervous about taking it in after my last bad experience with a different mechanic. But this new guy was fantastic! He actually showed me the damaged parts and explained everything super clearly. What a difference it makes when you find someone trustworthy! The car's running like a dream now no more jerking or rough idling. It's amazing how those seemingly small issues can make driving so stressful. Looking back, I should've gotten it fixed way sooner instead of worrying about it for weeks. At least now I know where to go if anything else comes up! Thanks again for sharing your experience it really helped give me the push I needed to get this sorted out. Feels great to have a smoothly running car again!
