Thanks for sharing your experience! Definitely sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. I'm glad to hear it wasn't anything too major. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been running smooth since then? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise.
Hey again! Yes, absolutely everything has been running perfectly smooth since I got it fixed! Happy to report that the repair completely solved my transmission issues. I actually just had it done about three months ago, and it cost me 365€ for the whole job mainly for fixing that damaged cable connection on the selector lever. It was money well spent, if you ask me. The transmission shifts like a dream now, and the check engine light hasn't come back on. My mechanic said catching it early probably prevented more expensive damage down the line, so I'm glad I didn't wait too long to get it checked out. If you're dealing with similar symptoms in your G, I'd definitely recommend getting it looked at sooner rather than later. These Infinitis are great cars when they're properly maintained, and this kind of repair is pretty straightforward for someone who knows what they're doing. Hope this helps give you a better idea of what you might be looking at! Let me know if you need any other info.
Hey, thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. You were spot on it was indeed the transmission selector that needed fixing. The whole repair came to about 400€, pretty close to what you paid. Funny story though when I got there, my regular mechanic was out sick, so I had this new guy who seemed really nervous about working on an Infiniti. I ended up taking it to the specialist shop down the street instead. Best decision ever! They knew exactly what they were doing and fixed it in just a few hours. The car's running like new now no more weird shifting or slipping, and that annoying check engine light is finally off. Really appreciate everyone's input here helped me avoid what could've been a much bigger headache (and expense) if I'd waited longer. Think I've found my new go-to mechanic too! Thanks again for sharing your experience it really helped me make the right call. Time to enjoy my smooth-shifting G again!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2007 Infiniti M35 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced transmission acting up and CEL coming on. Turned out the cable connection on my selector lever was damaged, causing incorrect gear position readings. Took it to my regular transmission specialist, and they found that the shifter cable had worn out and wasn't properly engaging. It wasn't a major repair, but definitely needed fixing to prevent further transmission damage. They also had to clean the connection points since there was some corrosion building up. The whole thing took about half a day to fix, and I haven't had any issues since. Just make sure you find someone who really knows Infinitis they have some specific quirks that not all mechanics are familiar with. If you're in doubt, I'd recommend getting a second opinion from a certified Infiniti dealer or a transmission specialist.
