G20 Nav & Audio Dead: Infiniti Expert Needed

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey all, having some trouble with my 2010 Infiniti G (145K km). The nav system completely stopped working, and I think it might be connected to some audio system issues. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back there. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their nav/audio system? Any recommendations for reliable mechanics who know their way around Infiniti electronics? Thanks in advance for any help!

I had a similar issue with my 2004 Infiniti M45. The navigation display would unusually go blank, and sometimes the audio system would act up too. Turned out to be a faulty cable connection between the control unit and display. Took it to the dealer last month after my regular mechanic couldn't figure it out. They had to remove the center console to access the wiring harness. The main issue was corrosion on the connector pins, plus some wear on the cable itself. They cleaned the connections and replaced the cable assembly. Not a super serious problem, but definitely needed proper diagnostic equipment to identify it. The repair itself wasn't too complex once they found the issue. My system has been working perfectly since then. If you're in this situation, I'd suggest finding a shop that specializes in Infiniti or at least has experience with their electronics. The navigation/audio systems in these models can be tricky to diagnose without the right tools.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Really good to know it might just be a cable issue that's way better than having to replace the whole unit. Would you mind telling me how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, have you had any other electrical gremlins pop up since getting it fixed? I've been looking around for a good Infiniti specialist yours seems to have done a solid job!

Hey again! Glad to help out with the info. After seeing your follow-up, I wanted to let you know that since getting the cable connection fixed between the control unit and display, my M45's nav and audio systems have been working flawlessly no more "Audio system function limited" messages or any other electrical gremlins! The total bill came to 165€, which honestly wasn't bad considering how annoying the problem was. The dealer really knew their stuff with these Infiniti electronics, and it was worth every penny to have it done right. They found the poor connection pretty quickly with their diagnostic tools. If you're dealing with similar symptoms, I'd definitely suggest getting it checked out by a specialist. Much better than letting a regular mechanic take a guess at it. Mine's been perfect for over a month now no more blank screens or audio issues. Let me know if you need any other details about the repair!

Update on my nav system situation you guys were totally right! Finally took it to an Infiniti specialist last week, and guess what? Same exact issue with the cable connection. Had some nasty corrosion going on in there. They fixed it up for about 180€, which wasn't too bad considering how much I was worried it might cost. The mechanic was super professional showed me exactly what was wrong and explained everything clearly. Such a relief after my last mechanic experience! The whole system's working perfectly now nav screen's crystal clear and the audio's back to normal. Really appreciate everyone's input, especially about finding a specialist. Saved me from potentially throwing money at the wrong fixes. Definitely keeping this shop's number for future reference! Thanks again for all the help!
