Frozen GrandlandX Nozzles: Heated System Not Working?

Spray nozzles frozen

Hi there, I've got a 2021 Vauxhall GrandlandX Hybrid (54966 km) and I'm having issues with frozen washer nozzles, even though they're supposed to be heated. Had some disappointing experiences with my usual mechanic, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with faulty washer nozzle heaters on their GrandlandX? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations for reliable mechanics who've successfully fixed this issue. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I actually dealt with a similar issue on my 2019 Vauxhall Crossland X Hybrid last winter. The washer nozzles weren't working properly, and the dealer found it was a cable connection defective problem, not the nozzles themselves. The heating element wiring had become loose due to vibration over time. When I took it to the garage, they had to remove the hood liner to access the connection points. The technician showed me where the cables had deteriorated at the connection point. It was a serious issue since it could've led to electrical problems if left unfixed. They had to replace some wiring and secure the connections properly. The fix took about 2-3 hours, and they tested it thoroughly afterward by running the washers in cold conditions. Haven't had any issues since then. If you're looking for a new mechanic, I'd suggest finding one who specializes in Vauxhall hybrids, as they'll be more familiar with these specific electrical systems. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was a wiring issue, sounds similar to what might be happening with mine. Can I ask roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other electrical gremlins pop up?

Hey again! Just to follow up, yeah, I got this sorted at my mechanic and I'm happy to share the cost details. The total came to 95€, which was pretty reasonable considering the work involved. And honestly, since they fixed that faulty cable connection, the washer nozzle heaters have been working like a charm! No more frozen nozzles or any other electrical quirks to report. It's such a relief to have this fixed, nothing worse than not being able to clean your windscreen properly in cold weather! My Crossland X Hybrid is running perfectly now, and I haven't had a single issue with the washer system since the repair. The mechanic really knew what they were doing with the wiring, definitely worth getting it sorted properly rather than trying any quick fixes. If you're still having trouble, I'd say go for it and get it checked out, these electrical issues usually don't fix themselves, and it's better to sort them before winter really kicks in. Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks so much! Just wanted to update you, I took your advice and finally got my car checked out at a different mechanic. You were spot on about the wiring! My issue turned out to be pretty similar to yours. The mechanic found some worn-out cables and fixed them up in about two hours. Cost me a bit more, around 120€, but totally worth it. Had a frosty morning yesterday and tested it out, the nozzles worked perfectly! Such a relief not having to worry about frozen washers anymore. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer, especially with winter coming up. Thanks again for pushing me to get it sorted, definitely saved me from bigger headaches down the road! By the way, found a great Vauxhall specialist in the process, so at least something good came out of this whole hassle. Cheers for all your help!
