Thanks for sharing your experience! Really good to know it was just a connector issue and not something more serious. I also had it fixed recently with similar symptoms in my Freelander. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the repair? Also, has everything been working fine since then, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up?
Hey again! Just to update you, after getting my LR2 fixed, everything's been running perfectly. The error messages completely disappeared and haven't had a single electrical gremlin since. My mechanic charged me 155€ for sorting out that faulty cable connection, pretty fair price considering how finicky these electrical issues can be. Honestly, I was relieved it was just a connector problem. These Flex-Ray bus errors can sound super scary, but sometimes it's just basic stuff like loose or corroded connections. My nav system, warning lights, and everything else are all back to normal now. Such a weight off my mind when they found the actual issue! These cars can be a bit temperamental with their electronics, but once you get the right fix, they're solid. Glad to hear you got yours sorted too. How's your Freelander running now?
Thanks that's really reassuring! My repair experience was quite similar. Took it to my mechanic last week and the final bill came to about 180€, a bit more than yours but still reasonable considering I was worried it might be something major. The mechanic showed me the corroded connector they replaced, it was pretty nasty! They also cleaned up the surrounding area and applied some protective coating to prevent future moisture damage. Really happy with how transparent they were about the whole process. My Freelander's running like a charm now, no more warning lights, nav system's perfect, and all those annoying electrical glitches are gone. Such a relief it wasn't anything more serious. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me feel much better about the whole situation. Think I've finally found a trustworthy mechanic too, which is a huge bonus after those dodgy experiences I mentioned before. Thanks again for all your help!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 Land Rover LR2 (also gasoline). The symptoms were almost identical, nav system failure, electrical warnings, and persistent warning lights. Turned out it was a corroded main connector block under the driver's side dashboard, where several critical cables connect to the vehicle's central electronics. My mechanic found that moisture had gotten into the connection, causing intermittent signal problems in the Flex-Ray network. The fix involved cleaning the connector pins, applying dielectric grease, and securing a new harness clip that had broken off. The original clip was letting the connector shift around too much. It wasn't a super serious issue in terms of safety, but it definitely needed fixing to prevent further electrical problems. The repair took about 3 hours. Would recommend getting it checked soon though, electrical gremlins tend to get worse if left alone. Hope this helps!
